Overland Park KS: see here http://www.fox4kc.com/wdaf-story-cars-4-xmas-120309,0,2620012.story [1] I am sending a request to you for my daughter Rebacca and her husband Jason and 3yr old daughter Carrie. Rebecca also has a baby on the way as Becky is 30 weeks pregnant.
A few months back we almost lost Rebecca due to a mass that was discovered wrapped around her right ovary. When it was first discovered, that was back in July and they said is was a small cyst at that time and said they normally go away in a short time and was not worried about it. Well, she came back for a check up on July 28th and found that it had doubled in size. They decided to watch it until we were sitting in church when Rebecca started having severe pain shooting down in her legs from her stomach. When we took her to the ER at Shawnee Mission Med Center, they found that the mass had grown so large that the mass was larger than the baby. Fortunately the baby stayed in the lower part of her stomach so as not to get entangled with the mass that took her right ovary. When they went in to remove the mass, they were unsure if it was cancer. They tried to remove it by laperoscopically but was unable to. They then went in the lower part of her stomach staying away from the baby and removed the mass. They told us that if the baby had burst the mass, it would have killed the baby and possibly Rebecca. She did lose alot of blood.and was very ill for a few days. Fortunately by Gods grace the baby is doing fine now and so is Rebecca however she has been suffering from Fibromyalgia for a few years now and has to withstand extra pain due to the fact that the meds she takes for it cannot be taken until after the baby is born due to side effects of the meds can effect the baby. We keep a close eye on her now. She is limited to her driving due to their car being broke down permanently ,I juggle my time trying to get her to her appointments when I can in the middle of taking care of my 85yr old mother who is very ill.
Not only that, Rebecca's husband Jason has a serious surgery coming up this November 4th at KU Medical Center.Jason is about to undergo "Auterior lumbar interbody fusion posterios lustunested fusion". What that is dealing with the lower 2 disks in his back and put pins in each disk due to birth defermality due to having an extra disk and causing degeneration in the lower 2 disks in his back. Dr Jackson with the Mark D Asher comprehensive spine center at KU Med Center has scheduled this surgery as they have exhausted all other treatments for the pain that he is continually going thru in his back. Jason is getting counseling at Johnson County Mental health due to the prolonged pain that he has been enduring which has caused him depression. He has been unable to even pick up his 3 yr old daugter Carrie and help support his family which has made him feel like a failure which we are trying to encourage him.
Jason has been unable to work for approx 2 years now which has put them to receive help thru the state of Ks and the Hud program. They only receive a small amount of money monthly for their utilities and they also receive food stamps to help with their groceries.
Their car broke down on them this past year which has given them alot of trouble to get to their appointments. Now with Jason coming to this surgery. Dr Jackson had told us that he is going to undergo a 7 hour procsdure with a 6 month recovery time. Dr Jackson also told us that they cannot garuntee him to be pain free but they are giving this a 60-40% chance for recovery and they are optimistic that he will be able to return to a normal life being able to work. Jason has been going to JCCC community college trying to get a degree in IT to hopefully be able to get off state aid and take care of his family. But when the pain worstened and until this surgery and recovery time, he has had to put this on hold until then.
They are both trying very hard to keep their hopes up and also to keep their daughter Carrie in a normal homelife while Jason undergoes this procedure. The need for a vehicle has become a reality due to the fact that not only will they need transportation for the two girls that they will have come January but with the need for a wheel chair for Jason and what ever else he will need for recovery of his back surgery will prove to be a blessing for them due to Jason having to undergo outpatient therapy which will require transportation to ge there and as Becky is due January 23, 2010. We were told by Dr Jackson that it will be approx 6 months before Jason will be able to return to school and or training for work.
We are at the point that we are needing help for them and I did not know who to turn to for this. I know you have been so good to help when there is a need for help with families. If you need medical documentation from us, we will be glad to provide what ever we can for this.
Phil Witt from Fox 4 TV has asked us to let you know that they have referred us to you for help as I had mentioned on the phone to you this week.
Thank you and God Bless you!
