PRESS RELEASE OCT/2005
CAR DONATIONS NEEDED FOR KATRINA EVACUEES
CAR-AIDE
We all know about the devastation of hurricane Katrina and its effects on displaced victims. Many organizations are helping with food, clothing, housing, and cash to restart their lives. Without transportation, this can still be a very difficult process.
Cars 4 Christmas has a mission and with your help we can make a huge difference in helping these people with basic transportation to start helping themselves.
Cars 4 Christmas, Inc. is a 501 C-3 Not-for-profit organization that provides free basic transportation to less fortunate individuals through donations from the public and automotive related businesses. Since 1996, we have helped hundreds of people get their lives restarted by providing reliable transportation to those in need.
Our goal is to fill transports with cars and deliver them to refugees relocated in the Midwest and in your community. We can provide a mechanically sound, safety inspected vehicle to someone in need for $500 to $1000 dollars, and we are the only Charity in the nation providing this type of assistance for free.
Assistance from Entercom Radio& Journal broadcasting, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Manheim Auto Auctions ,Local Automotive Magazines, and many automotive businesses in the state has been provided to help with this unique charitable event. We operate in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri but can pick up vehicles nationwide
The month of October Cars 4 Christmas is kicking off a special fundraiser asking automotive businesses and the public for donations to help get transportation to the hurricane Katrina evacuees. We have issued an urgent call for donated vehicles to give to evacuee families. Any vehicle donated for use by Katrina victims, as direct disaster assistance, is 100 percent tax deductible, up to the vehicles' Blue Book used value
For businesses:
Certain corporations may donate inventory (parts, tires, gas, etc.) and take
a tax deduction for the cost of the inventory plus half of the unrealized
profit on that inventory, but the total deductions can not exceed twice the
inventory's cost, as long as their donation is made specifically in care for
infants, the ill or needy, as could be the case of Hurricane Katrina.
