I Have a short story submitted by the Missouri Veterans Commission in Jefferson City. Chris was in the Army for 5 years with the 101st deployed to Iraq twice, onnce in 2003 and in 2006. He has injuries sustained during those deployments. A IED went off and he was blown over the roof of a vehicle and landed on a 2 story building. He suffers from a knee injury, tramatic brain injury and ptsd. The Va has suggested he apply for full disability but he is proud and said he would feel worthless if he didn’t support himself. He is proud of his service in Iraq and said he would gladly go back if he had the option. He would like to enter school or a VA Voc Rehab program, but needs reliable transportation to get to and from that program in order to move forward in his life. When he returned home he went to see his daughter and found out that his wife was in jail and his daughter was in states custody. He was not contacted by anyone and told. He is currently residing with his father and has recently won custody of his 6 yr old daughter. He drives his dads truck to get to work but it has over 300,000 miles on it and doesn’t have much life left in it.
Chris has given so much we called and to give something back. A vehicle!!
