Miami, OK Veteran gets a vehicle to get to VA appointments

My husband, Dave, served his country in the Army National Guard. He went to Iraq and has been in the Army Guard for the past few years. He has a tumor in his brain, can't hardly walk or see, or play with  our young son, Ethan, anymore. He falls down all the time, can't drive or see, and can't be left alone. This makes him feel really badly about himself and not being able to provide for his family. He was a medic in Iraq and for the fire department and can't do those things any longer. we have to drive 3 1/2 hours each way to see the specialists at the Kansas City VA. We don't have any income from the Army, VA or social security as all of these take time to get going. The trips to Kansas City are hard in our little car and it is hard for him to get in and out of, and the car is very old and not the most reliable. We have no other resources other than our family and friends, many of whom are in the same boat after also serving their country. I feel so blessed that I have my husband as many of the brave young men and women did not make it back home. Our nurse case manager at the VA and Mike Davis (your first recipient) told us about your program. this would change our lives dramatically if Dave could be more comfortable travelling back and forth in a larger car or van for the long trips. It would also ease our financial burdens. We plan to share this resource with other needy veterans as well. Thank you for all that you do!
They will recieve a vehicle at the Josh Turner Concert!!!
