LETTERS TO :    CARS4CHRISTMAS

 Midwest area Churches

Dear Terry Franz:

Learned of your much needed program from The Sun Newspaper November 8, 2002
article. My wife and I volunteer with Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement
Program. Have learned of 2 families that are in need of a dependable car to
travel daily to their place of employment.

> Anthony *****, Olathe, KS
He, his wife and 4 children immigrated to USA 3 years ago from Egypt under
refugee status. The father is employed @ ***** Company. Their car broke
down. It requires $1700. to repair, which the family cannot afford. They must
rely on friends transportation to support the family and for Anthony to work.

> Akot  *****     ****  , , Olathe, KS 66061, .
This man, his wife, 3 children and another due in January 03, are refugees
from Sudan. They arrived in USA 3 months ago. The family has no car and
cannot afford the purchase of reliable transportation. The father started
employment @ ****** Company last week. They too, must rely on friends
transportation to support family and to travel to work.

These families are permitted legal immigration to USA as political and/or
economic refugees, displaced from their country of origin. They are the poor
and are challenged by the need for a car to survive in our society. If they
have some money, they purchase the cheapest car available. In short time, it
causes them more financial problems.

We hope and pray the Cars4Christmas can assist these needy families. Wish you
and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Christina is a single new mother.  She had a very complicated pregnancy, forcing her to leave both college and work due to her medical condition.  Although she is able to work now, she is severely limited due to lack of a reliable  vehicle.  She walks or seeks rides when possible to the store, doctors appointments etc.  and has only been able to seek work close to home within walking distance.  With winter upon us, this will no longer be an option.  She receives some assistance and nominal child support, but this is barely enough to meet their most basic needs.  She just cannot afford to purchase a car, but desperately needs one in order to support herself and her baby in a dignified manner.

Pam is a single mother of 3 girls.  She lost her job of almost 15 years a little over 2 years ago.  After about a year of searching she finally was offered a position with a security company near the airport.  She drives 80 miles a day round trip to and from this new job.  Her hours are from like 1 in the afternoon to 9:30 at night so she rarely gets to spend time with her girls and works almost every holiday.  She has NEVER owned a new car and her used car literally died about this time last year. Her brother gave her his old beat up bronco to drive to and from work so she wouldn't lose her job.  The only problem is the bronco burns almost as much oil as gas and she does not have the funds to fix the car or get a new one. Between the cost of gas and oil her vehicles are making her broke. She recently had to borrow money from her parents just to replace the tires on the bronco.  She has been through rough times and we her family have tried to help her keep her head above the water line because we love her to death.  The problem is we are just as broke as she is now and can not do anything more except pray her luck improves.  She has almost lost her house this year and she refuses to go down without a fight.  Please help us to stand her back up with some reliable transportation so she doesn't end up without a job and no one to turn to. She needs this one good thing because I really think it might bring back a shred of hope to what she feels is a no hope situation.  I know people send you all sorts of horrible stories and there are people who probably need this just as bad as she does but I beg you to pick her and help her to turn her life back around.  Help make this Christmas special for her and her girls.  PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a wonderful lady who has recently gotten married. Her husband is disabled and having many health issues including Congestive Heart Failure. She recently found out that she Bi-Polar among other depression related issues, not to mention the other health issues she is dealing with while caring for her husband and children. Currently they have two children living with them the oldest has ADHD with Bi-Polar and the youngest is Bi-Polar. They have no form of transportation and so are having to beg rides from friends who are tired doing so and have told them they cant do it any longer. Her Husband is able to use the OATs bus but she nor the children can from what she was told. A car would make this Christmas wonderful for them and help them through out the year. The doctors have told Patty she can not work anymore so depression is setting in. If there is any way at all You can help her by giving her a car it would be wonderful.
