I am writing again this year on behalf of my two daughters, Kim and
Kelly .  Neither of my daughters have a car.  Kim is a hospice nurse
and is expecting her second child.  She is a single parent and without
a car it is making it almost impossible for her to get to visit her
patients and getting her son Noah to school.  She is currently borrowing
cars from different people to do her job.  Kelly does not have a car
either.  She is a single parent and is facing the same challenges that Kim
is; getting to work and getting her child to school.  I am very proud
of my daughters, they are both so good to me.  They have worked very
hard to get where they are in life and and I so wish they could both be
blessed with a car.  They are young and have no credit or money to buy a
car.  They were raised in a single parent home and have lived most of
their life without a father.  I divorced their father when they were
very young because he was physically abusive to me.  He has had no co
ntact with them since.  I have raised my daughters to be good
christian women.  I am currently disabled and not able to help them.  I don't
have a car so I am unable to help them with any transportation and I
don't have any money to help them obtain a vehicle.  There are no two more
deserving people than my two girls.  My Christmas wish would be that
you would bless them both this year.  Thank you for your time.  I'll be
praying you pick my two daughters.

Tly  is a hard-working man who supports a family of 4.  His
wife, Pam was working until she was unfortunately laid off from her job.
Pam and their oldest daughter are now pursuing a medical assistant
diploma to further themselves, but the van they share between his day job
and their night classes recently blew a transmission. Although they are
still paying on it, it has been giving them trouble since they bought it
and now it is totally kaput.  Their older son has been letting them use
his vehicle while he has been out of town but they will have to give
that up within 2 weeks when he returns. Not only all this but soon they
will also be without a home as the landlord has decided to reclaim their
house for his own personal domain.  With the Christmas season
approaching very quickly and gifts to buy they are at this time most concerned
about simply keeping the utilities on, I would just like to see Pam and
Tly catching a break every once in a while.  They are always doi
ng for others but it never seems to come back on them.  I am just a
friend that has been on the receiving end of the Sellers family
generosity and I'd like to be able to bring a miracle to one very special
family.

Kansas City,

I am a single mother who lives alone with my 13yr old daughter. I am
currently unemployed. In June of last year, my daughter was sexually
molested by her father. At the time I was gainfully employed but that
event caused me to experience several medical issues due to stress. On
top of that I have severe arthritis that did limit my mobility I lost
the job I had as a Customer Rep at Citiccorp. My unemployment benefits
have exhausted and I am currently surviving on my child support and the
401k benefits are topped out. I recently posted a resume on line at
Yahoo Hot Jobs and have receive a couple of job offers but the car I have
is not working and has not since last year. I do not wat to go welfare
and I am a high school grad and have about 119 college with a double
major in English and Speech. All my income taxes over the last 5 years
went to pay my defaulted student. I currently owe only $36.51 (Isn't
that Great!!!?) I have to ask people to take me to the grocery sto
re. Tonight I prayed and I typed in the url I need a car. If you
could help and I become employed, I will pay back the amount of a car. I
have beeen buying lemons. I would like for once in my life to have a
reliable car. Thank you for taking to time to read this episode of my
life. May God Bless You.

Hi there,

I would like to tell you why I think my daughter should recieve a car
for Christmas. My daughter is a single mother of a beautiful 4 yr old
little girl. She does everything she can to make sure that little girl
has everything she needs,(and most everything she wants)  She and my
grand daughter moved back in with us last summer after she bravely ended a
8 yr relationship, when it turned brutely abusive.
We live out of town about 15 to 20 miles or so,and we live in what
most would consider the country I guess. So there are no cab's or bus's.
My daughter has done great making do with what she has,and we help out
with what we can,but sometimes that can get a little hard. She had to
sell her car when her daughter was born, because she was not working and
the father refused to help with anything.  She is not able to return to
her job at the hospital where she was a CNA for almost a yr. Or go back
to school to get a degree in nursing like she had planned to because of
the lack of transportation.
She babysits, and cleans house's,and does alot of odd jobs around the
area we live in. But her heart belongs to nursing. She loves working
with older people, and just taking care of everyone.
She does'nt have perfect credit, and its hard to get a job without a
car,and you can't get a car without a job. So you see a car for Christmas
would be the biggest blessing, and the best Christmas gift she could
get.
                               Thank you
                             Priscilla

Hello my name is Deanna and i am writing in regards to my
family. My husband Travis and I have  four children and one on the way our
youngest daughter Celebrity has Down Syndrome and requires a lot of
medical treatment which requires a lot of traveling. Our uncle loaned us his
old car and now the transmission and clutch went out in it.. on top of
that there is no air which Celebrity needs in the summer due to her
asthma and heat in the winter which caused her to get respiratory
infections all through out the winter.  Mckenzie is our 7 year old and Kelsey is
our 5 year old  (they are my step children but I love them just the
same), their mother past away in August of 2003 and now the girls are very
sad and require counseling to help them cope with their mommys death.
But we can not get them there anymore because we no longer have
transportation.  Felicity (also a step-child of mine)  can't see her daddy or
sisters because her mommy says if we can't pick her up then she
cant see us.  So it is necessary for us to have transportation in order
to see Felicity.  Also I am pregnant  (not a planned pregency) and my
pregency is considered high risk since I have a child with down syndrome
already and I am only 21, and I have no way to get back and forth to
the many appointments that I will be required to have through out this
pregency.  Please choose my family to be so lucky as to get a car that
would bring our family back together again and provide our family with a
new beginning.   Sincerely,  Travis, Deanna, Mckenzie, Kelsey,
Felicity, Celebrity and unborn baby Williams.

I would like to submit Mary Anne *****  for one of your Cars-4-Christmas. Mary Anne is a single mother with two kids.

She had a truck until about a month ago. Out of the kindness of her heart, she loaded it to her brother and

he caused the transmission to go out. She didn't have enough money to get it fixed. He was selfish and did a disappearing act.

It was sold for a couple hundred dollars "as is" to pay bills. Her son has epilepsy and she has no way to get him to the doctor.

She called me tonight looking for a ride to her sons school Christmas musical. I got home from work to late to get them t

here in time. She was so disappointed he couldn't sing with his friends. She is in a catch 22!

She can't get a job because she doesn't have way back and forth to work, and can't afford a dependable car.

I heard of your wonderful program and thought she would be the perfect person as a recipient.

If there is a Santa, let him give this family a sleigh. Happy Holidays

Lawrence, Ks.

I'm writing this story for my sister Barbara. I feel
so sorry for her, she never seems to get a break in
life. She lives with here boyfriend Chris and there
three children son Steve 20, Coty is 7 and Katy is 5.
My sister has never had reliable transportation and
usually they have nothing, like right now. They depend on other people to get them to places

like grocery shopping, Chris to work, and the bus won't pickup the little kids, my sister has to work out rides

for them because the is road to busy and dangerous for them to walk. They can't afford to buy a car,

they can barely pay there rent and utilities and put food on the table.

I know that this is by far not the hardest luck story you'll receive, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to try and help my sister.

After being blessed in hundreds of ways - one takes things for granted
and doesn't realize that life can  somehow take a turn in ways you
never imagined could happen to you.
Once before, out of work, I wouldn't and didn't need to accept
unemployment checks.  After struggling for 5 years, got work agin that led to
the best, highest paid career position ever - things couldn't go wrong,
right?  Wrong!
After loosing the high income job at the beginning of last year (2003)
I believed that it wouldn't be long I'll get another like I always have
before.  Wrong.
I saw it coming though.  That preceding fall we sold our 4-bedroom
Tudor on an acre lot, dropped out of the Country Club, paid off most debts
and downsized to an apartment, which involved selling the furniture,
dinnerware, glassware - most everything.  Applied for unemployment this
time 'cause we needed something to live on while I looked for work.
Still made payments on the car & insurance, Health Ins. (now on COBRA,
costing 10% more than the employer was paying) and obtained Life Ins. for
a reasonable cost.  Not long after that, couldn't keep up the payments,
still no job, barely making the car lease payments and hard to keep up
the insurance and gas.  Had to keep the internet service and phone line
to do all those job searches.
Had several agencies, on-line and offline, working too.  Not even an
interview.  Realizing that I would be eligible for early retirement to
collect Social Security I applied for that - it kicked in at the time the
unemployment ran out at the end of November, but for less.  Applied for
food stamps and that really helped as well as our doctor began
providing free samples for most of the prescriptions.
The Medical ins. terminated.  The apartment ins. as well and started
missing the utility and car payments.  Oops!  The phone was disconnected.
The cable company disconnected.  However, bad news struck.
My wife had lost her appetite and was no longer eating - lost 25lbs in
3 weeks.  Now having trouble walking, but her mother's walker we have
was now put to use.  Soon borrowed a wheelchair.
The church helped us and got the phone reconnected.
They also helped with many prescriptions and some bills.
Wife was now requiring 24/7 care, up several times every night needing
help to go to the bathroom - couldn't even turn over in bed by herself.
Soon I had to take her to ER (7 times in two weeks) - until I had to
call 911 to take her - she couldn't make it to the car in the wheelchair.
ER never did more than feed her on an IV to give her some potassium and
hydrate her.  Still losing weight - not eating and all those tests
showed nothing wrong.
Our doctors couldn't do anything.  After many x-rays, nuclear test,
blood tests, MRI's and exams of all sorts - nothing wrong with the liver,
kidneys, gall bladder, brain, etc. - tests for MS -- well -- long story
- nothing showed up abnormal.
Finally, he suggested a Neurologist.  At the Cleveland Clinic (and they
submitted blood to The Mayo Clinic - negative) they performed tests on
the muscles and nerves and discovered the connections to the brain are
no longer there.  And, that she has the results of a cancer or a smoker
(which she never had) but no symptoms or evidence of either.
Still no cause determined to know of any treatment.  Continuing to care
for her made the job search impossible now.  About the time she had to
be admitted to the hospital because she went berserk which resulted in
a 3 week 3 day stay the food stamps were discontinued because my Soc.
Sec. increase a couple percent.  After the hospital stay which involved
MANY more tests and doctors of every imaginable kind - they
couldn't/wouldn't let her go home but had to place her in rehab at a nursing home.
Where she is today.  The Neurologist there finally determined/assumed
that my wife had been struck severely by a nasty virus "Like Polio" and
left, therefore, no signs of it currently.
When she left the hospital she weighed 85lbs. - down from her original
125lbs.  Just skin and bones.
Well, I had to turn in the car before they repossessed it, auctioned it
off and I still owe the remaining balance as well as other debts which
have grown PLUS the medical bills that have been piling up!  Almost
$42,000 now, even though we expect Medicaid to pay for her rehab.
Someone at church had loaned me a car (for a couple months) which
belongs to his son in the Air Force who's coming home shortly and will need
it again.  If I now get a job, to hopefully enable me to pay for a car
and ins. the creditors will garnish the wages which won't allow me to
keep any of what I earn for a car.
A great incentive to not bother to work.

As for the positives, I applied for VA health benefits and am now going
to get free health care.
My wife is now walking with a walker without assistance and gaining
weight since they installed a tube in her stomach and she's getting her
appetite back.

I can't afford much more than the apartment and utilities and phone and
maybe not food but if I can get a car to use to visit my wife, go to
the VA and any other appointments, shopping, church and perhaps a job
(that would pay for gas and ins.?) it would be really helpful and a
blessing.

Hi!  I just met Staci about 4 months ago when she came to work with me.  She is a single mother of one little girl.

She has had a lot of downs in the last two years.  She went through a bad accident and almost lost her daughter from it.

She rides to and from work with another co-worker.  She barely scrapes by on what she makes......

but she always puts her daughter first in everything she does.  She has gone through a divorce and gets no help

from her daughters father.  I have seen her many times go without lunch or eating very little because she is

scraping by as I said.  I know if she could get a car for Christmas it would free her up with a lot of different issues.

For instance, when the daycare calls her at work to tell her that her daughter is sick, she has to find someone to come

get her to go pick her daughter up.  She hasn't missed any time from work for herself and I believe she has only

missed part of a day because of her daughter becoming ill.  She always has a smile on her face,

no matter what she may be facing.  She is a very friendly young woman.

I really admire the courage she has in everything she faces.  I know if she had a car she would be able to

take her daughter to the park or just for a ride.  They walk to and from the grocery, the doctors, and other places.

I took her to lunch one day and she said to me "I am just watching people......

I hardly ever get to go anywhere"  that really touched me.  I hope you will choose Staci to receive one of these cars

you are giving away.  I know she would appreciate it very much.

Here is wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Love your station.

Olathe, Ks.

I would like to submit a story for my 19 year old niece to receive a donated car.  Ashley ******

lives with her grandparents and has no means of transportation and is unable to get a job without a car.

She got pregnant in high school and was determined to have her son,  almost 2, and try and make a life for

the two of them.  The father chose not be part of his son and Ashley's life, as was the case with Ashley's own father.

After he was born, she went to night school to obtain her G.E.D., and is now attending classes at

Johnson County Community College.  Her grandparents, Jim and Martha, drive her to and from class

3 days a week and baby sit  during class time.  Without them, there would be no light at the end of the tunnel.

She hopes to be able to some day obtain her LPM (Licensed Practical Nurse) Certificate and have a place of her own.

Without a car, there is no hope of finding a job to support herself and her son. She is a good person and

a wonderful mother.      Please consider Ashley on your list of requests.

She can have a better future with a little help from Cars 4 Christmas.  T

hank you for your consideration.  Kim and Lee *****.
