Natasha is a 19 year old single mother of a 5 month old baby. She helped to take care of her mother who had cancer and passed away in August 2001. Natasha has a brother who was younger and now lives with an uncle since the passing of their mother so the family has been split up. She also lost her grandmother to cancer when she was 8 months pregnant. She works at Paola at ****** but cannot afford health insurance for herself or her baby who is on medical aide. She depends on Wic vouchers for the baby's formula and the state for daycare so she can work. Her mother owned a Ford Probe that is on it's last leg. Natasha has been driving it with the baby. The car is not safe for her or the child. In fact the car is so small she cannot fit the baby car seat in the back seat where it belongs. I would love so much to see her get one of the cars for Christmas if nothing else for safety features for her and the baby.

I would like to nominate my friend Melissa *****. She is a single mother of three children. She lives in transitional housing that was provided after leaving Hope House. She just recently lost her car because it broke down and the repairs were to costly. Without transportation she has had to quit her job in Independence where she was making $9.50 an hour. Her kids are still able to go to school, but without transportation, Melissa and her family are having a hard time recovering from the recent events that have contributed to her situation. Melissa does ride the bus when she can, but is unable to find work. She is not able to be out late, because the housing is in a dangerous neighborhood. Besides the fact that Melissa and her family are having a difficult time, Melissa is a caring person and is staying upbeat and brave about what her future holds. She is relying on her faith in a higher power to provide a way for her and her family. It would be a true blessing for this family to be picked for a car.

My name is chris ****** i am 14 years old i am submitting this becuase i thought that i should let you know why we my mother needs a car for chrismas.
She walks to the bus stop at five in the morning and home from work. She has no family other than me and my brother. My father is unemployed my mother has no help she works all the time because she would like the best chrismas for me and my brother. I walk to school and back because my school doesnt send a bus if you live with in a mile range. I never see her because of all the working she does. I feel that the best chrismas present i could give her is a car. Thank you

I would like to submit a story about my younger sister. She is a single mom of a 1 year old girl. Her only car was repossessed earlier this year. She currently works for a nursing home as a CNA, but still has some financial obligations to Ford for the repoed car, so she can't afford to buy any other transportation right now. My mom helps as much as she can, but right now she works a second job on the weekend and can't always run my sister around. To make matters worse, the father of my sister's baby is not helping a tremendous amount.
My sister is a good person who made some poor decisions. She would never ask for help, but needs help that my family can't provide right now. My mom, dad and brother are not financially in a position to buy a car for her or even loan the money to her. I am not in a position at this time either because I am in med school and not working. Soon I will be able to help her and others in my family that may need it. I promise to remember all of those, in and outside of the family that have helped us in times of need. There is no sense in getting a higher education and having success if you can't pass it on to others and I hope to be in a position soon to repay those that helped us. I am writing for my sister, T. She has had a difficult time for
past few years. My sister is a young single mother of a 2 1/2 year old son. They currently
live in a battered woman's shelter and her time is running out. She is not receiving
any child support and makes minimum wage. T. and her son has to walk everywhere since they have no car.
Walking is very difficult with a toddler and with the cold weather
it is worse. She is about to lose her job because of transportation
problems and is unable to get one on her own because she has no money.
My sister is trying very hard to get her life back on track.
She desperately needs a car in order to get to work and take
her child to daycare and to doctor appointments.
Please consider my sister for a car that she needs very much.
