My best friends sister has 3 kids and no car. She was in a abusive relationship with the father of her kids and has left him several times but without transportation, she is not able to get a job and keep it when trying to depend on him to take her to work. This would be such a great Christmas present for her this year and give her the much needed transportation she needs. This could be the new start and help she could use to make it this time. I hope this can happen for Melissa, she is such a great mother and just needs a little help to get started. Thank you so much for your consideration and generosity.

My sister Brooke ***** Is the youngest of 3 children. She has always been known as the
spoiled brat. However over the last 2 years she has tried to live her life as independently as
possible. She is currently working at KU Medical Center and has had a hard time getting to
work. She has been getting help with transportation. She also is trying to go back to school to
receive her degree in nursing and this presenting a problem. Without transportation going to
school is almost impossible. So I'm submitting this letter to help my sister to fulfill her
dreams. Thank you .

Dear Tanna,
It's been a really rough year for my family. It started in January just a few days
after my son Nick turned 8. He was sexually assaulted by our teenage neighbor and his younger
brother on the other side of our duplex. We were living in Grandview in Sec. 8 housing because
I needed to take a year off from working because of my medical conditions. I have a rare
disease called Pseudo tumor Cerebri and the pain was keeping me in bed most of the time. When
the assault happened my son told me immediately and I reported it to the police, the Child
Abuse Hotline and to Moccsa. My son had to go through so much including taking HIV tests,
talking to officers and court attorneys and every day we were being harassed by the people that
did this to him. They called him names, threw things at the house, wrote things on the side of
the house and tore up my van by beating on it and taking parts out from underneath until it was
undrivable. I was finally physically able to start working in April and we moved out the first
week of June. After months of Nick going through therapy the case finally made it's way into
court and the boys that did this to him admitted their guilt and plea bargained for a lesser
sentence.
On October 2nd I lost my job because I took off a half hour early because I was sick
one evening. I have been desperately looking for a job since then. It's not easy trying to find
a job without a car and yesterday I received an eviction notice from my apartment complex. I
have no idea what to do. I have called all the agencies in my community for help and no one
can. I applied for AFDC on Nov. 1st and they still haven't even said yes or no if I can receive
$234 a month. I do not have any family except for my children.
My resume is all over the internet thru Hotjobs.com , Monster.com etc. and I want to
work. I had 3 interviews at Gateway and they didn't call me back. I have no clue why. I don't
like to ask for help but, I don't know what else to do.
Thank you for listening.
Jackie, Amy and Nick
