Good morning KY,
My husband was injured on the job over 3 yrs ago and now has many medical problems
and has to go to many Doctor appointments. The Doctor's didn't think he would make it but has
and we are very grateful and thankful. We now live on one income and that is what ever I can
make. I have two kids that help me out all the time with their father so that I don't have to
miss work. I have a 16 yr old daughter that takes her father back and forth to his
appointments. She miss's school when she has to for her father and I so that I don't have to
take time off work. Her car gave out on us about 3 months ago and we can't afford another car
for her so now I have to take time off work to take him. We don't have the money for a
different car for her and don't have the money for car insurance. It would help us out so much
if we could get a car for her and maybe help with insurance. We aren't going to have much of a
Christmas anyways and this would be the best Christmas present for my family
so that I don't have to take time off work that we can't afford. Thank you so very much.
She leave's for school at 7:00 am and it would be such a nice surprise for her to get a phone
call from you guys telling her she has a car. Her name is Tonie.
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you all

Cars 4 Christmas
James and Sarah ******* had lost there car due to a car fire on a highway. As a
result James lost his job due to no transportation. At the time they were living in
Springfield, MO. They decided to move closer to family packed up there belongings in a
moving van. With no job, no transportation they have been staying with different family
members. They have one son who will soon be 2 years old and a baby on the way. I
know they would love to get back on there feet, but it is very difficult for James to find work
without a car. He has no phone and at the time is living in a barn that has been changed
into a studio of a sorts on his fathers property.
I would love to see this young couple get a fresh start. Please consider James and Sarah
as candidates for a car for Christmas. I have been trying to help them out with food and
have let them borrow my car from time to time. They shuffle from Sarah's parents house to
mine to his fathers.
Thank you for your support.

Dear Max, Tanna & Moffit:
I have a neighbor who is a single mother with four children. The father deceased this
year. He never worked much so there is no pension and very little social security
benefits for the children. She had a car about 5 years ago, but was unable to afford the
repair bill to get it running again. Her and the children ride the bus, sometimes 2 or 3
busses to get where they are going. I am sure it is very hard to get home with groceries
also, let alone the doctor or dentist. She is looking for a new job, but it is hard to
get to interviews on the bus, and it takes so long, 2-3 hours in some cases. I help her
when I can. I cannot imagine having four children alone and no transportation. Of
course, this would be a luxury to them. They do not even have a telephone. I know
she gets down alot, as it sometimes seems so hopeless. If someone could give her a
boost... The sad thing is the children. The three boys are 15, 12, and 11.
The little girl is 6 and just won a record
of awards in her kindergarten class. She does not even believe in Santa Claus because
they never get much and never what they ask Santa for. This is a very loving and
deserving family. If you could help them, it would be like winning a $50 million dollar
lottery, I am sure! This would make their Christmas so special.
I work from 8:30-5:30 Monday - Friday. I do let her use my phone.
Very Sincerely Yours
A Concerned Neighbor,
Susan ********

Cars for Christmas
I am submitting this for my cousin. I heard about your program on the radio and I am
hoping you can help her.
She is a single parent and doesn't have a car. She is currently unemployed and is unable
to get a job due to the fact she doesn't have any transportation. She had a car before
but the repairs were too costly and she had to junk it, consequently loosing her job.
She has a low self esteem and at this point not only wondering how to raise enough money for a
car to get back to work little lone money for Christmas presents for her daughter.
Please help her get back on her feet by helping her with a car.
Thank you so much.
Debbie

I am a single parent with two children 13 and 9. My car broke down about 2 months ago
and isn't fixable. I have not been able to get a job because of no transportation.
I am living in a small town where no-one is hiring within walking distance. I have really
been struggling to even put food in the house. I have to walk 4 miles to Blue Springs to
even go to the grocery store. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out.
I don't have family to count on for a hand. It is just the girls and I. The phone
number I used is a message phone and they will make sure to let me know and also I do have
email. Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Kansas City, Mo/City Union Mission
My name is Jessica ***** and I am 16 years old. I am writing this
letter to tell you our story. Three years ago my father and mother separated and my father and
my younger sister, Samantha, moved away. My father had a drinking problem but he stayed sober
for 11 months and my parents were trying to work things out. In August of 2000 I was shot in
the arm with a 12 gauge by the boyfriend of a friend. My dad started drinking again that night.
For the longest time I blamed myself for his drinking again even though he assured me that it
was not my fault. My father lost his job at Houston's on the Plaza and my mother lost her job
at a candy factory where she worked. They separated again for a short time. In February of this
year they got back together but we had to go to the City Union Mission. This is where we are
living now. I have been through 9 surgeries and had my last one on August 27.I have many doctor
appointments and continue to go to physical therapy at Children's Me
rcy Hospital. My little sister has no transportation to or from her school. My father is
getting ready to go back to work. My parents have been through a lot with all the doctors and
everything and I feel that they could really use a car, that it would help them out very much.
We have been homeless now for almost 10 months and our time is just about up at the Mission. A
car would be a great help in my family getting back on their feet. Thank you very much for
considering my Christmas wish for my family. My little sister, my brother, and myself got
together to write this when we heard the ad on the radio (which my dad has been listening to as
long as I can remember.) Please help if you can. Thank you, God Bless and Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
Jessica N. *****
Update Feb. 2003:
They are now out of the shelter , rented a home and are working full time with
the help of transportation.
