Omaha hero need to get to work

Hi I'm Lisa . I don't listen to your station but I have a special friend that does. He was telling me about the neat things you guys do at Christmas. He loves how you guys help people, and enjoys listening to the joy you give. His name is Bill. He's just a guy that in my opinion deserves a break. He's a ex Army Ranger  with 2 Purple Hearts who has defended his Country in 2 wars, and, as is his luck I've come to realize, has been forgotten by his Country.

Veteran inspiring others

I know your program gets alot of requests & I pray this comes by your desk,  I want to share an amazing young lady veteran who would be so humbled, and blessed by a vehicle, here's a portion of her story:

This is part of Amber's story in an article she wrote, that is currently encouraging and helping other veterans that have gone through, and are going through what she has survived.  In the military circles this is referred to as the "Amber letter".  A tool of encouragement.  Here's just a portion:

Family living in a Hotel is tough

The last thing in the world I ever expected to have to do is ask for a car.  I am a mother of a 25 year old and grandmother to two young boys, as well as a  KU law school graduate.  I attended law school late in life, while raising an unexpected grandson.  A couple of weeks after graduation my mother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and we had to care for her during her two year struggle.  There were five generations alive at the time and I was the "sandwich" generations.  I attempted to rais

They need to get to the Doctor

My Husband Bruce has just had back surgery and cant work right now and we could really use a car. We have a 2yr old girl that is a liver post transplant and we have to get her to many doctor appointments and labs and Bruce needs to get to therapy. We rely on friends and family to get there now or the bus but she can get sick easily now that the weather is getting bad.

Rodney doesn't need to walk to work anymore

A few months ago, Rodney came home from work and was told he could not enter the house because they were getting a divorce. Shortly after that, Rodney's truck needed a new motor and he didn't have the money so he sold it to a friend of the mechanic. He lives in LIberty in a small camper. He has walked to work several different times and it takes about 2-1/2 hours to walk. He is usually at the store between 6-7 a.m.  that means he has to leave the camper around 4:30 a.m.  My husband takes him to work on Sundays usually, but due to our work hours cannot do it during the week.

Tish in Omaha

Hi my name is Tish. I am a single mother of two wonderful boys who are 5 and 10. My ten year old suffers from a severe speech problem and has just recently been diagnosed with a muscle skills disorder. Even with his problems he is a very bright wonderful kid and has lots of friends who understand him and his situation. Wayne and Sharon

This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do but don't know where else to turn.  My husband is a Vietnam Vet who is disabled not service connected yet still fighting that battle.  He has multiple problems a pituitary tumor, peripheral neuropathy, PTSD, emphysema COPD to name a few.   I too have problems arthritis that has made it very painful to walk or stand for any length of time and Atrial Fibrilation.  These things cause us to have many doctor appointments and we also still have two teenagers at home.

Greg and Stephanie in Overland Park, Ks

I have a degenerative neurological disease called Multiple System Atrophy. I was diganosed 4 years ago. Since then our lives have changed. I spend a lot of time at doctor's offices. I spend a lot of time in the emergency rooms. We had to sell our home to keep from foreclosure. I have mini seizures on a regular basis due to my disease, so it is hard to have any place that is not a one floor home. Otherwise I fall down stairs and hurt myself.  So we rent an appartment.
