I have stumbled upon some unfortunate luck right now. My 1996 Ford
Explorer
broke down on Christmas day. I have no other vehicle. My Husband
just had his Achilles tendon repaired because it ruptured. He will be
out of work for 6 months or more, depending on how he recovers. My
oldest daughter just had her third surgery in Nov. of 2006. She keeps
getting infections and needs to be taken to Austin Children's Hospital every
so often. My youngest daughter just turned 2 and doing great .As of right
now I have no income coming in, my house is being taken from me, I quit
my job Nov. 2006 due to my daughter and her condition. And the simple
fact the work place was a hazard to my health. Now  I will have to turn
to living with friends. My credit is not worth getting a car for, plus
no income as of right now. I just need a little help myself, to get
started and get back up my feet. So if someone could please help me or
lead me in the direction of some help I will be very grateful. Thank
you for taking the time to read my story and God Bless.

Houston

Hello, please take the time to consider my family for a donation. I was
laid off over 1 year ago from my job in Houston, due to Hurricane
Katrina. Since then, I have done what I can to take care of my 7 year old
twin boys. I have borrowed and used up all of my credit, and my house is
1 month from going into foreclosure. I have recently been blessed with a
job withch will begin on December 1, 2006, but currently have zero cash
or collateral to obtain financing, nor do I have the ability for a
co-signer. I want to be able to provide for my sons, and in the city of
Houston, a car is a necessity.  This job is the beginning of the long road
back to redemption for myself and to start providing my children with
the house and life they so need and deserve. I know my story is not a
common one, and there are more worthy individuals who may deserve a car, I
only thank you for your consideration and applaud your organization.
Sincerely,
John

Lewisville

This is for my inlaws. They are both retired and have limited fixed
incomes. Their basic living needs ( medical and housing expenses) devour
the majority of their income thus rendering them unable to purchase a
vehicle for their basic needs (dr. appts ,grocery trips) Health reasons
forced them to retire at a relatively young age and over the years they
have struggled to exist and finally bankruptcy succumbed and they lost
everything. This is proof that bad things happen to good people. If i
could afford it I would purchase them a vehicle but my current situation
will not allow this as I Am younger and raising my own family. When we
were down and out they opened their doors to us and this pains me that
I cannot do this for them. So I thought the next best thing would be to
advocat for them. They are proud people and would not do this on their
own so i decide to undertake this on my own. Any help or advice would
be greatly appreciated. Thank-you for your time

Fort Worth

I am a new resident of Texas, as well as a new parent of a 6 week old
baby girl. I am a single parent with no transportation. Let's just say
that even getting groceries is a chore, let alone trying to get back and
forth to all the doctor visits a newborn requires. I worked full time
(as much as doctor would allow) until I gave birth as a hostess. I dream
of raising my child while working/schooling online. This will provide
my daughter with my quality time while educating myself. Having a
vehicle to get back and forth with would be a blessing that would mean the
world to the both of us!

Spring

To whom it may concern:
My name is Shantel and I a currently a displaced New Orleanian.  Due
to Hurricane Katrina, I have lost everything. I have no car and no one
in Texas to help me with transportation.  There is no busline available
in Spring.  In order to get to the store I would have to walk 2-3 miles
with a 6 month old baby in the heat.  I have a Bachelor of Arts degree
but can't use it because I have no way to go and look for a job.  I
have had several interviews come my way but because of lack of a car I
have not been able to go to any of them.  I am not one of those people who
use excuse after excuse for the reason things aren't happening for them
but if I have to let people know what is going on with me to get help,
that is something that I have to do.  I pray every night that something
good will happen for my son and I. Hopefully by writing my story
something will open up for me and my son.

                   Thank you and God Bless!!!

she just moved to Dallas and is trying very hard to adjust. she is a
hairstylist and finding a job is very hard for her because she does not

My husband and I are in dire need of a motor vehicle.
My husband is 74 with lung and cardiac problems and I am 59 and
disabled.  Our only income is Social Security our credit is totally shot. In
Texas, our $1690 is too large for any kind of assistance, including
utility assistance and with the ever increasing energy bills, grocery and
drug bills and taxes we now find our selves stranded and dependent on
friends or neighbors for transportation to the grocery store, church, the
VA medical center (67mi.1 way) and my doctors (27 mi). We have tried
going through the local "we sell/we finance" dealers but they want large
down payments, charge huge finance charges and are not able to keep
monthly payments low enough for our budget. We do have a 95 Plymouth Neon
that needs a motor and shocks, but don't have the $1200-$2000 to have
the motor replaced and are no longer able to do the work ourselves. If
you can help us, we will be eternally greatful.

Houston

Since I have been separated form my husband these two years it has been
hard for me to get around like I would like. At this time I live with
my brother and some days I have peace their and some times it not peace
their. I would like to have my own transportation so that I can leave a
normal time to go to work instead of leaving two hours in advance and
the bus still does not come on time. Many days where I caught the bus
it’s dark out there. I have been here in Houston, Texas now for about a
year. And I would like to have my own transportation to get around and
find a better job and be able to have my own apartment as well. This
means a lot to me to be able to finally have transportation to be able to
buy grocers at one time and just take them home instead of having to
get little at a time. I pray that this will be the year that I will have
my own transportation and paid out in full.  Thank you so much.

Grand Prairie

As you may know many  kids are transitioning out of the foster care
system daily.  Very few of these kids continue their education.  Recently
we had a child turn 18, graduate from high school, and as a result
became discharged from CPS care.  At the same time his foster parents who
raised him retired and displaced him and his siblings. Fortunately his
three siblings were placed in a new foster home. CPS does not provide
housing for kids after they turn 18 and graduate from high school.  As a
result he has been sleeping on his grandmothers couch.  He has decided
the only way to change his life is to go to college.  In order for him
to go to college he will be in need of assistance in making it all
happen.  The child's siblings single foster parent has worked a miracle in
the past three weeks for a child that has never lived in her home.  She
has paid for all his college applications, dorm fees, clothes, and
other odds and inns that come with going off to college. However she d
oes not have the funds to purchase a car.  The car would allow the
child to be able to commute home on weekends to see his siblings and get a
job to support himself through college.

Jackie and I need a little car or minivan cause we have numerous doctor
appointments and we have one coming up next month that is out of town.
My Jackie is having an operation on her foot next month. She is a
overweight person and a diabetic. We are both on oxygen for our lung
problems. We need a vehicle to help us pay our bills and to buy groceries. We
are both on a fixed income, we would have a car if we could afford one,
but with our income, it is so hard for us to get one. We would
appreciate anyone that will donate us a vehicle. We are good people and mind
our own business. Thank you and may god richly bless each and everyone of
you.

Hi, my name is Sherry , and i am in desperate need of a car. I live in
a very small town and there are no jobs here. To work you have to drive
32 miles there and 32 miles back to the nearest town. I am a single mom
of 3 daughters. The oldest girl has dual personality disorder. The
other 2 girls are bi-polar. I need to be able to take them to the doctor
and to counseling, and to the psychiatric doctor. My husband recently left
me and left me with no car. I had a job but i lost it because i couldn't
get to work. No-one will give a person a ride around here because it is
just to far to go. If i had a car i would be able to get back to work
and be able to take care of my kids. No money to get a car and without a
job i cant finance one. I am just about to give up because i dont know
what to do or where to turn. I cant find no help anywhere and my kids
have to go to the doctors all the time because of the problems they
have. Desperate for help. I do hope that someone out there has a
car that they can spare or a car that they would let someone pay out
monthly with no down payment so i could get back to work i would pay for
it. I just need some help to get back on my feet. Thanks for
everything.

My name is Jennifer and me and my sister are in need of car to help my
parents out who both work hard to support us and take care of us. we

doctors, take them to school or anywhere they need to go. we also need a
car to help us get back and forth to work and also help me get back and
forth to my new nursing school which is 30 mins away and for my sister
to get back and forth to her college when she leaves the fall or
winter. we could really use the help we dont make that much money at all and
just started working and our parents make barely enough to pay bills
and get food sometimes we dont even have enough so we could really use
the help to get a car so we can help them out alot thank you..

Houston,

Padrica needs a car so that she can get around the city of Houston. She
is a hurricane Katrina Survivor and she has dedicated all her free time
to researching and organizating for other Katrina Survivors, mostly the
elderly and children. She helps the families keep food and clothing.
Padrica has helped people find there family members. Sometimes she works
during the night locating jobs for other Survivors. She works with
several of the grassroot organizations helping the Katrina Survivors. When
she goes out to collect the donations she is on the bus,Padrica does
not have a car, her car was stolen and broken beyond repair, that does
not stop her,  booming rides to get all over the place. She is
dedicated/ she says she does not want to see the people homeless again after
Katrina. Padrica keeps a smile on her face and
knowing that she was left to die 12 days after the hurricane with out
food/ water and homeless herself. she works hard to  help others, that
is how she keeps her mind from going into depression or self-pity.
Padrica deserves to have a gift bestowed on her. Before hurricane Katrina
Padrica and her son would go out several times a week and feed homeless
people, take them to the health clinic find places for them to sleep at
night. She is a real warrior of God.  Padrica is a loving mother,
daughter that takes care of her mother and son. After being without a job
for the past 8-1/2 months Padrica just got a job to support her family.
She walks to work someday because she does not even have busfare.
Having a car would enable Padrica to work and continue helping all the
people she can.
She is a wonderful person and she deserves the best that life has to
offer her.

Please help this devoted angel with transportation.
Sincerely,
Victoria

Orange,

Hi I'm Kelly.  My husband Jeff and I are both disabled.  My husband has
diabetes and cancer and I have diabetes and schizophrenia.  We are in
desperate need of a good dependable vehicle as my husband has frequent
visits to Galveston Texas for his doctors appointments at UTMB.  He also
has sarcodosis which he is being treated for.  I also have doctor
visits, and we aren't able to get to them without asking someone for a ride
because we don't have a vehicle.  If you could just help us, it would
mean the world to us because we are on a very limited income.  We get
$927.00 a month for both of us and most of that goes for the bills and we
don't earn enough for a car loan place to even talk to us.  Thank you
for your patience.

Kelly

Texas City,

This is like my brother he has had a lot of great jobs in his years of
working but he losses them for the simple fact that he does not always
have transportation. He can not always depend on someone to be able to
give him a ride and I know that if he had transportation he would always
have a job. He is a very good worker he just lacks the transportation
part to maintain a job. So if you could consider this and maybe give him
some help it would most definitively help him out. thank you so much
Bailey.

Plano,

I have just had a child and my husband is disabled due to a car
accident and i can not work because I have to stay home and take care of my
new son and i do not have a car to get my son to doctors appointments i
have to ask someone and if I have an emergency i have to take an
ambulance which costs a lot of money I don't have and all we have is my husbands
disability check that we get once a month and that is 560.00 a month and
80.00 dollars come out of that for Medicare so we just don't have the
money now me and my son and husband receive government help but every dime
of that goes for food and needs for my son so i dont have money to make
a car payment and people in our family dont have the money to help with
a car and there is no public transportation that me and my son can ride
due to he is in a car seat and there are no seat belts on the buses and
in order for me to take the other transportation that the city provides
i have to be disabled so please help me and my husband we re

My name is Maria #######. My husband and I have no money to purchase
a vehicle at this time. We are in dire need of vehicle to transport my
husband to and from his treatments and doctors appointments.
My husband is diabetic, he lost his eyesight in September 2000 after
many eye surgery attempts. After he lost his sight, his kidneys collapsed
in December of the same year; he began dialysis. Then in March of 2001,
he had his gallbladder removed. Come May 2001, he had a quadruple
bipass. My husband attends hemodialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours each
day. He gets very week and has shortness of breath. My brother had loaned
us an old car he had but is no longer working. We have made attempts of
fixing it but without any luck. I am currently having a hard time
trying to transport my husband anywhere due to his condition. I feel very
bad having to ask you all for your assistance since I do understand that
you may get many requests but I am at my dead end. I hope that you are
all filled with many blessings so that you can continue providing
assistance to the needy. I wish that you are able to assist us. I thank you
in advance for what you do. May GOD bless you all

Irving,

I hope it is ok to submit my own story.  I came across your website
really by accident.  I am a 46 year old single mom/grandma.  My car was
repossessed about 3 years ago.  My only means of transportation since,
has been my bicycle for most of that time.  In April 2005, I purchased an
older model car from a lady I work with, paid cash (no receipts--my
only fault in this transaction).  When I finally paid it off in August I
asked for the title.  I still do not have the title.  The registration
tag expired in August.  The person I bought it from has only brought me
2 buyer tags from a legitimate dealership. The person I bought it from
will not return my calls.  I called the dealership on the buyer tag and
they knew about the transaction, but said they did not sell the car to
the lady I bought it from so there is nothing they can do to help me.
I am sooooo frustrated.  The current buyer tag expired on Nov. 17,
2005.  I have been on vacation since and go back to work Nov. 30, 200
 5.  I will have to be riding my bicycle again.  It is 3 miles to work
and sometimes have to be at work at 5:30am and sometimes get off work
at 10pm.  I am currently only making $10.60 an hour.  I have tried to
get a car from other sources and cannot get one cause I don't have any $$
for a down payment and really can't afford any payment over $150 a
month and that is pushing it.  Pretty much right now I need a miracle and
came across your website.  Any help you can give will be deeply
appreciated.  If you cannot help, thank you for listening and God Bless you in
your endeavors to help people.

Rising Star.

Please read this because im writing about my mother who needs help bad.
My dad passed away about 5 years ago after being sick for about 2
years. The finacial strain and being so worried about my dad caused my mom
to have a stroke. She has regained all use of her body back but only
from pure determination. My mother had an 84 model Chevrolet car that was
all rusted up and a berrta car that sits here in the yard. Neither
vehicles run right anymore. The berretta has a rod knocking and no money to
repair it.The Chevrolet no one can find out what is wrong with it. my
uncle let my mom use his old rusty Chevrolet truck but it breaks down
every other day on her. My mother get survivor benefits from my dads social
security and that isnt much. There is hardly any money left over after
the bills to buy food. When i was in high school i had a little girl.
My mom helped me with her so i could finish school. And later when i
ended up divorced she was there for me again. My mom has been my roc
 k. I am now 36 years old with 3 kids. I recently lost my job because i
missed work when my 14 year old had major knee surgery. My car is about
to be repossed and every thing else. I am trying very hard to stay
afloat myself. I feel so bad that i cant take care of my mom like she did
me. That is why i am writing this letter to see if maybe by some miracle
that maybe someone could help her with a car or maybe help her get hers
repaired. Thanks so much for at least reading this. My mom is a true
angle who is always helping other people but now needs help herself. I
pray that you will consider helping her. Thank you again.

Houston,

Hi, My name is Ariane & I'm writing in about my wonderful
fiancé Anthony . He's definitely in need of a vehicle due to the loss
of his 1996 Ford Taurus during Hurricane Katrina. He was in the process
of saving money to buy a new transmission for it. Anthony is a very
ambitious & active 22 year old guy. His all time favorite sport is
Basketball & he has hopes of some day becoming a coach of this very own team.
Without a vehicle Anthony can not participate in this activity because
he has no way of getting around to find a basketball court, job or
attend college to complete his dream. Houston is a HUGE, unfamiliar city
that we are trying so desperately to adapt to , but , it's pretty
difficult to get around here without transportation & a steady income. He's
hoping to purchase a Chevy Trailblazer (his dream car) in the future, but
for now, i'm hoping to surprise him with just with a simple set of
wheels that will get him started on the path to a great future. Can yo
u guys please assist me to get him moving??? Thank you very much!!!

Houston,

I am a single mother of four and am currently 8 months pregnant. I
moved to Houston 2 months ago from New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina. I
have a vehicle but while in Louisiana a woman with no insurance hit my
car and I only had liability, which would not pay for the damage. I had
no money to even file a claim against the woman. I would like to stay
in Houston. It has been really hard for my kids and I with no
transportation here. My 7 year old goes to school 1 mile from where we live and
cannot ride the bus because it is within 2 miles of her school so I had
to buy her a bike to ride to school while it is really too far of a
bike ride for a 7 year old. I worry every morning she leaves out on that
bike. Even if I tried to walk her there I have to pack my two year old
also which is hard being 8 months pregnant. If anyone could help us with
a car or even help us to get our own car fixed and registered we would
all be so greatly appreciative.God Bless.

Burleson,

I am a single mother, supporting my 11-year old daughter. I am
the one in need of a vehicle right away, I have an 89 Plymouth Voyager
van, and I was told by a mechanic that the water pump is leaking bad
and will be going out anytime soon, if it does, the motor will burn up.
I am afraid to drive it, I don't have the money for the part or the
labor to fix it, someone said the entire radiator would have to be taken
off to get to the water pump, and can't find anyone to 'volunteer' to do
that. I am self-employed, cleaning houses and office buildings, I have
one cleaning to do each day next week, and no way to get to these jobs
to support us. Please HELP!!

FEMA is helping me stay at a hotel. I need to get a job so I can find a
home for myself and my children, but have no transportation. Life is
rough and god has shown me a lot in my time of hurt and need. It would be
such a huge step for me if I could get a vehicle to start life on my

Houston,

She had a truck in 1999 she could not pay for repairs and the apartment
where she was living had it towed away tha was her only transportation.
she isn't able to work because her son don't have a way to go to the
store nor to the doctor's office. they walk miles in the heat and in the
rain.  She is on government housing and is trying to find work. in the
mean while she walks 9 miles everyday to pick up her 13 year old son.
she hasn't seen her grandchildren in 1 1/2 years cause she can't even
afford bus fare.  I can't give her any money nor can I give her a ride I
care for my elderly grandparent. We keep them in our prayers. that God
will provide them with a ride. The can go to church on the southwest
part of town she dreams of attending Lakewood church again.

Houston,

I ran a non-profit economic development organization specializing in
helping minorities, women, low-moderate income, and rural businesses. I
have been displaced because of Hurricane Katrina and I'm now living in
Houston, TX. I have met with Houston city officials and Congressman Ted
Poe's representatives who want our organization to help provide job
training and entrepreneurial training throughout the area. My problem is
that I have no money to purchase a car and I desperately need one so
that I can assist individuals who want to start a business or receive
training from programs that our organization developed. A car would surely
help me to assist these individuals, allow me to generate revenue for
our organization, and more importantly, restore my self-esteem.

Annona,

Hello & thank you to who ever reads this story. my son (Adrian) was
born on may 21, 2005 premature at 23 weeks old at 1 pound 6 ounces
doctors gave us almost no hope.  Adrian is now 4 month's old and even after
enduring multiple surgery's for his heart, lungs, and a hernia he is
going strong and with the help of god he will hopefully be alright.

Now that Adrian is almost going home I'm without a job and a car.
Without a car it will be impossible for me to take him to his doctors
appointments or to find a job to support my son and wife.

So a million times please who ever reads this and is able to help us
in this very tough situation please do so and me ******, my wife
(*********), and Adrian will appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.

P.S. condition doesn't matter
as long as it runs.

                        sincerely your's

Denton,

Tamara ***** is a nice, sweet young lady. She is twenty two years
old, and just got her license earlier this year. For years she has been
active in her church and her community and is still very active for
charities and walks for medical causes. If anyone needs any help, she is
always willing to help and chip in if she can. Tamara is also an excellent
student. She has maintained a four point zero during her entire
collegiate career, at the University of North Texas. But now upon graduating
this fall, I can see no better reward than a car for her to drive. All
of her hard work would be taken to another level if she had the gift of
transportation, which her parents and see just simply cannot afford.
She is currently working two jobs, and it would just be great if she was
allowed to have a break, by having a car graciously donated to her.

Sulfur Springs,

I am a single mother of 3. I have a job but I do barely make enough to
take care of my children much less be able to buy a car. It is hard to
find a way to work and my ride is always late. If I loose my job then I
will not be able to take care of my children. My two oldest children
are in school but my youngest isn't. Every morning I have to wake her up
and take her to the bus stop with me where we wait from 6:50 a.m. to
7:35 a.m. It is getting winter and its really to cold for her to be in the
cold for a long period of time. She was born 3 months premature and
gets sick real easy.

Austin,

Lisa and her 3 children, Warren 18, Kelly 14 and Brittney 9, were one
of the unfortunate families displaced after Hurricane Katrina devastated
the gulf. Up until the Hurricane, Lisa and her children had lived
their lives in New Orleans, born and raised in the city. Lisa, though on a
low income, managed to support herself and her 3 children. She was
even getting ready to give her car to her son Warren as a high school
graduation gift before they were so abruptly displaced from their home and
lives in New Orleans. After the hurricane they spent 4 days living at
Lisa's job with friends and family and limited food and water supply.
The National Guard did not rescue them until Thursday. They were
flown (their first trips on an airplane) to Austin, TX. This is where I met
them. Tired and unsure of their future, but happy to be alive and
together. After some time living in the Austin Convention Center they
found an apartment in Austin. Lisa made sure of this by getting up
at 4am each morning to be the first in line for housing. Today the
girls are in school and Lisa ready to get herself and Warren into new
jobs. Warren, just finishing his senior courses prior to the hurricane,
unfortunately, will have to wait on his diploma until he can either get
back to New Orleans or for AISD to get the ok from his school district
in New Orleans to take the required tests to receive his diploma.
Either way, they are both ready to get into the work place and out of the
apartment. Their car is in New Orleans, water logged and ruined like
their beloved city. The location of their apartment is not convenient to
public transportation. So they are hoping to get a car soon. Her
budget is limited, but she is not particular, anything to get her around
will suit her just fine. Please help them to get settled by donating a
car to this wonderful family.

This person really need a vehicle because she has really been trying to
adjust living in the Houston area with three kids she's only 25 years
old with no family here in Houston she have been trying to find a job in
the medical field but it is hard because she have a 2 year old baby. I
submitted this application because I seen Lashondra an her daughter
walking down the street it was nearly 100 degrees outside her baby was
crying because she was hot Lashondra was walking from the store with
groceries with her baby I asked her did she need help Ms. Lashondra accepted
she started crying thanking me for stopping an giving her an her baby a
ride from the grocery, I then asked her where did she have to go next she
said I need to go fill out applications to find a job because I haven't
gotten any assistance for my children and I an my bills are soon to be
due an I would hate to go live in a shelter with my kids
again. Lashondra also told me that she would take her daughter to fill out appl
ications because she is unable to pay for child care because she have
not found a job yet because she do not have a car to get around so she
stay in the area where she live an fill out applications. Sometimes she
is so tired from walking all day her two older kids would miss the bus
for school an they would have to stay home because she don't have any
transportation to get them there. I listened to Lashondra tell me what
was going on I then began looking inline for help for her an her kids.

Austin.

My name is Melissa and I am a single mother of three boys 13,12,and 8.
We have been dislocated by Hurricane Katrina. We have been staying with
my sister and her family, I do not have a car. I have been borrowing
cars for my sister and her friends. I had to borrow a car to leave the
area I was in. We are from Mississippi and we have nothing to go back to.
I am looking for a job and working hard to get my family back on it's
feet again. Some days are harder than others, but I keep my chin up and
keep moving forward. We may have lost every thing but I am so grateful
my children were not hurt and we are all still together. If there is a
car for me thank you so much. If not then I know it went to a more in
need then we are. Thank you so much for helping as many people as you
can and to those who have given so much.

Dallas,

My name is Tonie and I am actually the one in need of transportation, I
had gotten sick and went into the hospital and lost my vehicle (repo).
I fell into some terrible financial problems and have been having a
hard time getting back on my feet.  I have some medical problems which I
take medications for heart disease, seizures, asthma, and stomach
problems. having to pay for all of that and my rent is keeping me from
obtaining some much needed transportation.  I was offered a good job in which
I can't even get to without transportation, if I had a way to make it
to and from work, then I could help myself and pull myself back up on my
feet and get my life back together.  Please any help would be
appreciated.  I was used to working two full time jobs at once, then when I got
sick and started losing things..life just seemed to go downhill.  I am
not lazy, I do want to work, I spent 8 years in the military..it is one
of those times I just need help.  Thank you.

Houston,

My mother has sacrificed her transportation so that I can have a car.
I currently attend college in another state.  She is paying my car note
while I attend school.  Her car was stolen in May and she hasn't been
able to get another car because she is helping me.  She needs a car to
get my 10 year old sister to school and other activities.  She currently
walks my sister to school and then catches a bus to work.  Please help
her.  Thanks

Houston.

I am a single mother of a beautiful 4 year old daughter. Three months
ago i was laid off from my job im port Arthur tx and forced to look for
other work at the last minute in order to financially support my
daughter and my mom. Since it was practically impossible for anyone to find a
decent job in that area at the time, i was forced to commute to houston
tx. I left my daughter in port Arthur with my mother in order for her
to be taken care of without a worry. Unfortunely it has been extremely
hard for me to find a decent job here in houston because of
transportation issues. I am trying really hard to provide a better life for my
daughter and mother, because i feel that i owe them that much at least. My
daughter deserves to be raised in the proper environment, currently my
mother lives in some rundown apartments were someone is always getting
hurt and i want to move them away from that area. Im only 22years of age
but i am trying really hard to succeed and help my family the be
st way i can, but i really need some help. Everyday since i have moved
to houston i would get up at 6am walk to potential businesses submit
applications and resumes, by the time i get home it is after 5pm. I am
seriously motivated and determined to provide a better future for my
family.

So here i am asking for someone to please help me
please.

I already have a honda accord lx 1986 model, but it is currently
sitting in a shop awaiting repairs i don't have the money to get it fixed so
if someone could help me fix it that would be wonderful.

once again thank you very much

Houston,

Hello, My name is Deborah . I am writing to see about
recieving assitance with a vehicle for my husband.  I was laid off of my job of
five years back in Jan.2004.Then I found out that I was pregnant. I had
a 2001 caravan at the time and my husband had a 98 Mustang. I have not
worked since and have had to give up the Mustang. We kept the van until
this past August and have had to let it go as well. We are now carless
and have to beg for rides. The reason for our purchase of the van was
to have plenty of room for our three children and the one we were
planning on concieving. Well now we have no means of transportation and four
children. Our new baby was born this October 2004 and we had to bring
her home in a borrowed vehicle. My husband has to ask for a ride to work
everyday. I would really appreciate any help. May God Bless you all.

Deborah

I came across your site by surprise.  I went to the salvation army before Thanksgiving for food and help w/finding a place for me and my four children.  We will be homeless on 1/15/04.  But I was unable to find help, they did give me 2 Walmart sacks of food though, that did help. I am in hiding from my ex husband and have been for a while.  I have had to move several times and decided not to anymore.  I kept a job for almost 3 yrs here until my car was vandalized.  I had just agreed to take on payments of $100.00 a month for a bad car and two months later someone put coffee grounds in it.  The other car I had that ran, sometimes, was also vandalized.  I can't prove who did it, but the main problem was holding onto my job.  I did keep my job for over a year, relying on friends and neighbors for rides, but that tired out the "goodwill" of my friends and it was unfair to expect everyone to keep helping me when they had their own families and businesses to tend to.  It also wasn't fair for my job when I couldn't guarantee I could be there so I understand not being able to keep my job.  I have almost given up.  I have four children 18, 16, 14, 8.  Girl, boy, girl, boy.  My 16 yr. old son was blinded in his right eye during a church overnight scouting campout on dec. 6, 2003.  He is a real blessing of strength to me, I am very impressed w/his optimism.  I think his blindness hurts me more than him (of course, he doesn't know this) He went through a very difficult, painful transition but is back on his feet and going full speed again.  He is a great son, a great example of a big brother and a wonderful young man.  We all go to church, don't drink, smoke, etc.  We need help, but I also wish for my children to have a pleasant Christmas.  I know they get disappointed every year, but I don't know how to change that.  I live out in the county and have walked, but it's really far and takes hours.  I don't like leaving my children alone that long.  Most people have forgotten us, that we need to go to the grocery store and need simple things like toilet paper.  I actually slipped over to my neighbors when their home was "wrapped" w/toilet paper and cleaned it up for them at night b/c we needed the toilet paper.  That's a new low, probably funny to some, but survival brings out the "no pride" syndrome.  You probably can't help or will refer me to some other place that can't help or will refer me somewhere else. I just wanted you to know that we need help, and I used to be self-sufficient.  In this town, people really don't respect an impoverished mom w/four children.  I have cleaned for money for toiletries, etc., I am not a beggar, but I have no pride when it comes to trying to help me children.  Will you help?  My name is Marilyn , #####.  I know there are people worse off than us, but I want to avoid being the "worse off " category.  It's hard not to give up.  If you read all this, thank you for taking time out of your life and schedule to read this, even if you can't help us, maybe you will be more aware of us single mom families.  Marilyn. :)

Mount Pleasant,

My daughter is 19 years old and has a six month old baby. Her husband
left her when her son was a week and a half old.

She has a 1986 Mercury Cougar that is falling apart and has a leak in
the exhaust. She is working almost full time and going to school full
time. She is trying desperately to get her life back.

My husband and I have helped her as much as we possibly can, but we
still have three school-age children at home and have financial
difficulties ourselves so we can't help her.

We are desperate to see her in a safer vehicle for her and her son. Can
you help her?

Vidor,

My mom has four children, me Amber, 14, Crystal, 18, Mike, 16, and
Nathan, 8.  We had a car but the man that gave it to us got mad at us.
Then she tried to get a car, but someone put coffee grounds in it. She
lost her job. She walked but it made her foot bleed and she fell asleep
for two hours.  Other people are tired of giving us rides.  her and my
big brother rode bikes at night for food, but it's too far and dark.  She
doesn't want people to make fun of us kids if someone sees her walking.
If you let her have a car I know that would be the best Christmas
present she ever gets. She could get a job and so could my sister and
brother.

Hi my name is Erica  I am a 19 Year Old female currently looking
for a job along with a 2 year old daughter. her bithday just past sept

need so if you could please donate a car please let it be a blessing for
me.

Harker,

Is it possible to submit myself?  I am 49 years old and 3 years ago my
life was effected like never before. I worked for Pepsi 10 years making
$16 hr. After 9/11 they laid me off.  One year after that my trailer
burned down. I had 2 more payments before it was paid off and I had no
insurance. That year was the first year we applied for Santa Pals.  When
we picked up our gifts the box was titled "Family 71".  That was truly
the first time I felt I was poor. Since the lay off,  I haven't been
able to get a good day 40 hour job.  I am a secretary that types 55-62
wpm. I applied everywhere on the bus. I am either overqualified or
competing with numerous other applications. I have a job at this time that is
paying me $4.75 plus tips. I walk to this job from 6p-2am. My two
children (16 and 13 years old) and a grandbaby live with me. We walk to the
grocery store and to wash. I receive food stamps and am trying to
receive federal housing help. I can't buy my children shoes, socks, cl
othes, because I am paying slowly but surely the $360 rent per month.
The jobs that I can apply for that possibly will hire me run after the
bus stop for the evening. When I get housing hopefully that will give
me and extra $200, $100 to spend on the needs of my children and save at
least $100 per month to raise money to get a cheap car. My children
live with humility and shame everyday.  We have no furniture at this time.
No furniture for the baby.  I could possible get things donated but you
need a car to search and apply for those things. My daughter sometimes
doesnt want to go to school because she doesnt have clothes to wear (
she is a size 20 at 13 years of age)I am sure I am not the only one with
a hard life but I feel if I can get a car I can get my 16year old to
school if we get a sitter for my grandbaby to get her GED. I know I can
get a better paying job after the bus stops running with a car. Thanks
for hearing my story. Even if you cant help me I feel this is a
well deserved cause and God Bless you for helping people.

Houston,

I wish there was kind of way to help my friend with good transportaion,
i feel he deserves it he's been through a alot with a recent divorce he
in the middle of running his own company and he does a pretty good job
i just feel he would be a greater impact to be able to move freely with
his own transportation. he's so dedicated to work and trying to help
others it touches me how this man can have so much dedication to
something even without all the resources and all the odds against him and i
feel it would change the world to see him be able to have transportation
to fuel his career and visit his daughter. God Bless Him
youcan leave him a message he sleeps in the studio

Fort Worth,

Darlene and her 12 year old son, Sean have been trough a rough period.
After a 14 year marriage, they found themselves on the streets of Fort
Worth, with no where to go. Mr. Thurman filed for divorce, was court
ordered to pay child support and has not paid anything for several
months. He doesn't care about his son's needs. Sean has to have medical
attention frequently for Asthma, allergies and for a condition called
Peter's anomaly, legally blinding his left eye. He is to have a cornea
transplant in the next year. Darlene, has to have constant attention as well.
She has high blood pressure and suffers from Bi-Polar Affective
Disorder. She has had back and knee surgery and is suppose to have a knee
replacement soon. They have both suffered from not being able to make
doctor appointments, get medication, go to the Human Services offices or
even go to the grocery store. I would wish for them to be a recipient
because of everything that has happened to them. I didn't tell you eve
rything, just enough for you to know they need help. If I had the
money and if I lived locally, I would help them. It hurts when you see
someone you love suffering. Can yo help them?

Pamela ***** is a single parent of four children and was recently a
truck driver. She lost her job and has been trying to find work outside
of the trucking industry, but since her recent work history only consist
of driving it has been hard for her. She tries to save money out of the
child support that she recieves, but at times that is not a guarantee
that she will recieve it. She has applied for loans to get a car to go
to work but has been denied the credit needed. She wants to go back to
school to better herself but without transportation she can not get
there. Being a single parent has really worn her down and all she needs to
get on the right track is to obtain a vehicle she can drive so she can
get back into the working world.

Houston

My name is Shameen and I am 23 years old.  I work full
time, go to school part-time and I have two daughters.  The oldest is 5
and the youngest is 2.

I have had some tragic things happen in my life within a few years time
and I will not let them keep me from my goals in life.  The first thing
was was the flood back in 2000.  My mother and I lost everything.  Not
even a month after that, my mother died. When my mother was alive, I
had to take care of her and my oldest daughter by myself. I was the only
one that worked and I only made 7.50/hr. I have always taken care of
someone and hopefully soon I can get someone to take care of me. :0)

Since I do not have my own transportation, I have to rely on friends to
take me simple places like the grocery store or to take the children to
the doctor.  I have always wanted to just go and buy a car but I can't
afford the car notes and I have bad credit. so I just take the bus.

I would love to take my kids places but with no transporation it's very
difficult.  I'm not asking for much.  I don't need an expense car, I
just  need a car that is dependable.  If anyone could help me, I would be
so grateful.

Thank You,

Hello. I am not sure what Christmas is to everyone else, but I know
that it is something that can be an anytime of year blessing. We, my 16
year old daughter, 4 year old son and myself have been left by my spouse
with no transportation. I had a stroke last year and my spouse could
not deal with my disabilities and health issues so he has said he has
fallen out of love and has left us without transportation, no financial
support, back utility bills, back phone bills, ect. including the last
two house payments. We desperately need transportation so that my
daughter can drive me to work take her brother to daycare and get to school
herself. This is a huge responsibility for someone so young and she is a
great kid. She is so deserving of a vehicle so she can provide
transportation to me as I am legally blind an unable to drive and to her little
brother and her self. It is very difficult for us right now as I am
only bringing in $897.00 per month from social security. My spouse de
cided to cheat on me with my business partner/best friend so my career
is completely out the window and I am just on my disability at this
time. I am trying to locate a job, but it is difficult due to
transportation issues. I have applied locally where I can walk to work 2 miles a
day and then home, but this does not get the kids to school. We are in
desperate need of help and pray that you can help us or provide us with
someone that can. My income last year for myself since I am on my own
now is only $12,000 for 2003. I have tried to purchase a vehicle, but
with the debts that show against me due to the divorce not being final and
the income I show I am unable to obtain transportation. This has been a
nightmare for us, but we are faithful that God will provide for us some
means of transportation as the school and preschool is too far to walk.
My X to be comes to pick them up right now but Jessica is at school 2
hours early and it is not safe for her to sit in front of an un
locked school. We need some independance for ourselves so we can pr
Sincerely,
Patti

Well, right now I'll just ask if you help people in other states!  I
noticed you're in Kansas, and mentioned you're trying to expand to other
areas.  So common sense tells me your Kansas office can't help me, but
I had to ask!  I have been searching for years to try and find a place
like yours, so even if you can't help but you know other organizations
that can please, please send me their information!!!

Bless you and the work your doing!

Brownsville,

To Friends:
I must tell the story of a wayward lady and her two children. This
little family who has traveled to the East Texas area by way of Chicago has
all but found themselves dependant on the mercy of God for help. The
youngest child being nine years of age has such a wit about herself as she
begins to narrate the particulars herself. She speaks of her grandma
and grandpa who still live in the windy city and she lays across the bed
looking out the window, thinking when she might see them again but now
that her mother is without transportation and has to walk to and from
the store it makes it very unlikely for her to do more than daydream. Her
mother and father are now separated and although Mrs ****** can drive
she cannot  afford any form of vehicle. She relies on church members
whenever she can for help. She is most willing and does all odd jobs she can
to earn little substance for herself and her two kids now that she has
been abandoned by her spouse. She has no family here in Texas.
Feeling cut off by poverty she is forced to do the best she can. If she
only had a vehicle she could earn enough money for her kids and herself
to maybe visit her parents again in their twilight years. Thank you.

Hello this is my own story. I'm a single mom with 3 kids. I had a
husband up until 9 months ago he went to jail because I had to call the
police on him because he hurt my little girl. So now were alone with out a
car I cant work because I live to far out and not near the city. I would
love to be able to work and to be able to go back to school to better
myself and to make a better life for my kids. You see I cant go to work
because I don't have a way there so bills r pilling up. I don't have the
money to get a car and right now my family cant help much. I've never
heard of cars for Christmas I was just looking and found this and I could
not believe it. Thank u for reading my story and God bless

I am requesting this car for my sister Samantha.  She is a single
mother with four children, Neubean 1yr., Devon 5yrs., Christina 7yrs, and
Tracie 11yrs.  In the last couple of months I have had to drive to
Carrolton from Commerce so that is can go to the store to get groceries, go
to the laundry mat to wash clothes, or to take the children to the
doctors office.  Two out of the four fathers do not pay her child support so
she doesn't have the money to purchase a car of her on.  In the past my
sister has done so much for me.  Anytime i needed a place to stay she
was there with an open door.  now I am married and if my husband and i
could afford to purchase her a car we would, but because we are college
students and are barely making it are selfs we do not have the money
available to help her.  She is truly a great women and she cares greatly
for her children.  She wishes she where able to take her children to
church and on picnics but she has no transportation to do so.  I re
ally can't think of anyone who needs a car more then my sister.  So,
I'm asking for your help.

College Station

Hello,
I am currently a college student and Texas A&M University.  I live in a
single parent home with my mom and little sister when I'm not at
school.  Currently I am working and that only pays for food and bills.  My
mom makes less than 13,000 a year and so there's no way I can turn to her
for financial needs.  I have been in need of a car for sometime now.  I
have to catch the bus late at night just to get back home from school
and work. I have been trying to save up for a car, but it seems like
every time I get something saved, a big expense comes up as well, like
helping my mom or my older sister with their needs.  I would really
appreciate your help, even if it's only a referral.
