I am submitting this story on my own behalf. I have been
down on my
luck trying to hold it down as a single parent who never asked anyone for
anything unless i really needed it. i have a 15 year old son who is
striving to be someone in this world and i take my last and give him
because i want him to have the things that i could not have growing up. i am
sort of homeless at the time going from home to home. trying to make
ends meet. i was in a car accident a few days ago and the driver that hit
me did not have any insurance, identification, addresss, nothing. now i
am out of a car hoping that my insurance company will help me out.
going back and forth to the doctor because i have minor injuries. i can go
back to work until i am better my job requires that i be on my feet for
long periods of time. and using my hands. I basically have nowhere to
turn. I have to catch rides. there is not a cab service where i live. i
live about 25 minutes from the nearest town. i really need a car
.please help me. if i did not need a car i would not ask. you also
would be helping my son. god bless you all.
thank you

My name is Travis , I found out that I am diabetic in
2004. I
am only working part time making just barely enough to pay my rent and
buy groceries. My fiancé is living with me and her hours at her job
has been cut drastically. We are in the midst of trying to get a
business started but it is moving very slowly with funds limited for
advertising the business.
We only have one vehicle which tore up on 9/8/2006 as we were coming
home from buying a few groceries. Thanks to my manager where I work, he
let me borrow his truck to drive until we can get the car looked at.
It is my only hope and prayer that ya'll would consider helping out
with a car.

This lady has had some hard time. She is in her sixties
she lost her
home, husband, car. She was in a very bad accident and when she she got
out of the hospital after a month her husband was to come home from the
hospital but died on the way home. She then was not able to face the
finaces of buying a car and also had lost her home. She does have an
apartment now. She has to depend on anyone who can take her to get
groceries, doctors and church. It will make her independent again and she will
be able to drive herself to and from church and the doctors office. She
still has her SCDL.
God bless you

Mary is a single mother of two little girls. she had
to have heart
surgery in April, and as a result, lost her job and her car. she is well
now, but can not work because she has no transportation. she has
always provided for her children in the past, and is finding it difficult
not to be able to do so now. since June, she has had a couple of jobs
that she has been unable to keep because she has no dependable
transportation. as a result, she may loose her home. Mary is always
ready to
help others in need, but is finding it hard to ask for help now that she
needs it. I hope your organization will be able to help her.

i am a single mother of two with no job. I am very independent so it was
very hard to have to pack up my house and move in with someone else. my
oldest daughter was a twin. her brother died when he was three months
old and my daughter has had health problems ever since. I lost my job
because I had no one to help take care of my kids when they got sick,
especially my oldest kalyn, who is 4. I moved around the Charleston sc area
because the job market was more open than where I was. when I found a
job my transmission in my car went and I have no money and know no one
that could help me out. I am desperate and cannot get a job without
reliable transportation and cant get transportation without a job. the state
will not help with daycare to go find a job, I have to be working. So i
am in a dilemma that shows no hope. thank you for your time.

Columbia,
My aunt Diane need a car because she has diabetes and other serious health problems that require that she go to the doctor. She is a Christian woman who enjoys attending church on Sunday and Bible study on Wednesday. She has no way to the grocery store and to the pharmacy to get her medicine. She is a very sweet person who enjoys doing things for people and with people. If you can help her it would be greatly appreciated.
Inman,
David is a Senor In Chapman High School. He does alot of sports
and after school activities.
He works very hard to keep up with all he does but he has many dilemmas.
One of them being that his parents only have one car a 1986 Nissan
Maxima that is really not in that good of shape and is only used for his
dads work car. And his father works 3rd shift in a freezer/mill for
stoffers. His family hardly has any money and they have no credit.
But
all three years of his high school life he has excelled and worked hard
to achieve good grades and make it to his after school events. He does
Cross country, wrestling, and Track and field. In every one of those
sports he has to stay after school for 2 and a half hours. He then has
to walk from the school 2 miles to his house. He does chorus after
school and on Tuesdays he stays at school with nothing to eat till 8:00.
He
is so tired when he finnaly does get home that he goes strait to bed.
Ive heard his mother get mad at him cause didnt turn in his homework the
next day but I really dont see how thats possible.
Now he wants a job to get his own money but
no one will take him
back and forth and he cant get money to buy a car to get back and forth
to a job. And since he doesnt have a job he doesnt have a car.
His parents dont have the money to buy him a car either.
What really gets me though is that he said
if he doesnt have a
car by next year he isnt going to do any after school sports or chorus.
He enjoys it all but he has told me that he doesnt like walking so far
home on the dark road afraid. Something else that Im scared of is that
he has said if he doesnt have a car before the end of school that he
wasnt going to college. And his whole life has been set on going to
college.
Despite all that ,he doesnt get to go out
to the mall with his
friends cause he has no way. He told his girl friend that he couldnt see
her anymore when school ended cause there was no way to come see her
during the summer.
He is also a very smart kid and can build
and fix computers. He
got invited to represent SC in a technology fair but since he had no
way to columbia he couldnt go.
I just wish you can help him he is
starting to get depressed
cause he is afraid that all the things he loves are going to go down the
drain next year if he doesnt have a car. And Im afraid that if he
doesnt hurry and gain some independance that he is never going to get to
enjoy his teenage years. He only has 3 left.
Please do what you can
Thank you for hearing me out, you might be his savior

Summerton,
About two years ago, my sister was diagnosed with having Multiple
Sclerosis. She was only 22, and was devasted about her prognosis.
Although, she is doing well at the time, there still remains a chance,
that she could become ill at any time. And, to add to the stress that she
is already enduring, she lives with her four-year-old daughter, in a
small town with no public transportation.
Marquita spends her days in her small two bedroom apartment, for
weeks at a time. But, it isn't because it is by choice. It is because
there is no one to take her anywhere. She misses nearly all
appointments to her doctors, and I have to drive nearly 60 miles, just to take her
grocery shopping. I love my sister, but between my job, kids, and the
distance we live apart, it is nearly impossible for me to be around
during the week, when she needs me most.
I can't say for sure, but it must also be hard on her child.
Although, she is loved very much by her mother, and she does visit with her
father from time to time, they definitely need to get out together to
do "fun" things. There has also been times when her daughter has become
ill, because she suffers from asthma, and she has needed to take her to
the ER. The only advice she was offer by others, was to call the
ambulance. And, because she couldn't get anyone to drive her 15 miles, she
called emergency rescue.
I have done my part, by helping her to get her license, but it's
possible for me to get her the car. I'm hoping that by telling you this
story, that you might be able to offer some assistance.
Anderson,
Hello. My name is Josie. I am 25 years old. I have a five month old baby boy named Austin. I work at Walmart as a cashier. My mother helps get me back and forth to work when she can although it is hard on her because she has a serious heart condition, diabetes, kidney failure. She also helps me watch the baby while I am at work. Sometimes it is hard to get to work and also get the baby to the doctor when he has to go. I would like to further my education so that I can provide a better life for my child. Please help if you can.
