I am writing this about myself. I am 62 yrs. old. I have 1
son, who is
a single parent and works.( does not live with me ) I also have 9 grand
children ( only 2 are my biological- ( I"m still their nanny ) In
1992, the doctors told me to get in a wheelchair because I could not walk.
They didn,t tell me then that with-in 6 months, both legs would be cut
off and with-in a year, I would be dead. Until this happened, I was a
store manager- working 16 hour days, 1 day off a week. Of course, I
refused to sit down and I hurt from head to toe,but I became very active in
my church while I saw what it seemed like a million doctors, who
natually gave me a million pills. I also went from 145 lbs. to 336 lbs. In
1999, because of a voice I heard in the middle of the night, I lost 150
lbs. In 2000, I had changed doctors and with-in a couple of months they
found the problem and operated on me. They put a artificial tube (
which runs from my breast, to almost my knees ) so that I could have
oxygen in my body. I am a miracle! The only things wrong with me
now
is - 1.NIDDM 2.Fibromyalgia 3.OA 4.CAD 5.HTN 6.PVD 7.Hyperlipidemia
8.Metabolic Syndrome and Angina.I am also separted (19 mo.)from my
husband.None of the last 10 things I've named are my biggest problem, because
as you see- life goes on. One and half years ago ,I became a part time
Aide( working with Autism, ADD, ADHD, ODD, PDD children in the
school
system and also an after school care giver ( part time) to meet
financial burdens. Both jobs are inside of a school, but not the same
school.Iam also trying to go to college, to get an associates degree in Early
Childhood Education . Friends & family have been taking me to work and
I'm grateful, but I need a reliable car and not feel like I'm a burden
to anyone. I'm thanking you ahead of time, if you

I am desperate need of a car. My daughter is a very sickly
child. Befor
the age of one she had already had to surgery's. I do not have a car so
there for I am unable to get a job. I am also wanting to go back to
college to get off of state help. I want to be able to provide for my
daughter myself. I am a single mother, I left her abusive father when I was
5 weeks pregnant. I have been trying to survive since then. My daughter
needs things that I am unable to give her so I have to rely on my
family which is unfair to them. Especially when they are trying to help my
sister out. She was just diagnosed with a rare cancer called ATC. I
would like to be able to provide my me an my daughter with out having to
rely on someone else to do it for me. Plus I would like my daughter to be
proud of me an know she can do anything she wants when she grows up.
Thanks

My girlfriend has a disabled daughter with many medical conditions that require her to see 6 specialists and 3 therapists as well as make frequent trips to the hospital. We had some financial trouble and she sold her car so we could pay our rent. Now we have to take public transportation or find rides to the appointments and we are struggling to get her daughter to all of them. It would change everything for her to have a vehicle. We would both have transportation to improve our situation which is desperate at best and most importantly her little girl would get everything she needs that we are having trouble providing because we have no car. Nothing in the world would make me happier than to take some weight off of my girlfriends shoulders, she has so much stress and responsibility for being 24 and she does it on her own mostly. If you can help her, and do what I cannot, it would mean the world to her.

My car blew up so I lost my job.I've been living with
friends for a
year with my girl friend. We have a son that stays with my mom because I
don't have a stable place to live. My girlfriend and I just got a job
today at the outback steak house, but im not sure how long thats going to
last because the hours will vary on my hours coming and going. Some
days I won't be able to get the bus. It will be about a 25-30 mile walk
home. My last christmas wasn't really all that good. My son is almost 2
and would like to give him a better christmas this year with hopes of
gitting an apartment early next year. My girlfriend and I would be
blessed to recieve a car to help make this christmas nice.
Thanks for listening

i am a single mother of four. All four of my children have a disibility. I recently graduated from college after struggling for 3 years to get through. I found a job but work in North Olmsted which is a hall from Euclid. The vicious cycle of welfare is a daunting struggle. They will help fix your car but you need full coverage insurance. If i pay for full coverage that the repairs fro the car I have are too much. The van I drive now is in need of a transmission and smells of gas while driving. Not a safe situation for my children. I work very hard and need help with transportation to continue on the path I have worked so hard to reach. Thank you..Heather

James has 3 beautiful children who are all under the age of 4. His family became homeless during the summer. His children went into foster care. He is now employed and nearly has the money saved for an apartment, which means his family will be coming home soon, but there is no money for transportation. He currently uses a combination of bicylce and bus to go to and from work, but trying to transport his 3 small children in the same manner will be impossible, which means they will have to walk to and from the bus stop in the freezing cold. It would mean so much to this family to have a vehicle capable of transporting them.
Cleveland
Hello my name is Kelly and I came across your website in search of transportation. I've been homeless for over 5yrs and now I'm moving on from a transitional housing program I've completed. Now I'm enrolled in cosmotology school for next year I will graduate in Nov07. I work as a nursing asst. I need transportation because I can't yet afford to get one on my own it would change my life and help aide me in some difficult times, like when a client need their done I can't always reach them on the bus or if so it takes anywhere from 1hour to 4hours just to get there and about that time the person will call and cancel. The way my schedule is it varies I often have to turn down certain jobs because I don't have a car or they won't hire me if I don't have car. This would be a major break through for me I really would love to even more independent not having to depend on anyone else.I thank you so very much and God bless.

She is disabled and unable to purchase one of her own.
She has 2 teen
daughters and has to provide transportation for one to and from school.
She also has many doctors appointments. I hope that you can help she
has been without a car for 2 years and has been using ours. We are not
able to help her get one at this time. I pastor a church and she is
also a minister and will use the car to travel to minister at different
locations.

My name is Geri and I am a struggling single mother of
four teenage
children. I am a survivor of an abusive husband who with gods help has
gotten myself and my children out of a very dangerous life. I have a
decent job, but with no child support, am finding it very difficult to get
by. Recently, the old car that I had has died on me (the engine went).
Now, with no transportation, the kids are missing school, and I am
almost out of a job. I try to do the best that I can, and get rides when I
can to and from work. I know God helps those who help themselves.
I'm
running out of options. If someone would help me, I would be able to
maintain a roof over my children's heads, and put food in their stomachs.
If you can't help, maybe you can direct me to someone who can. Any
feedback would be a blessing from God. Thank you for taking the time to
read this.
GOD BLESS!!!!

My mother and I were involved in a horrible car accident
last year
which totaled my car and she was hurt very badly... She was on a ventilator
for 11 months and is now learning to walk again and that car was my
only transportation and now it is hard for me to get back and forth to see
her and when she does come home I will need a car to take her back and
forth to the doctor and I have no money to afford to buy one at all. I
would use this car to take her to appointments and therapy. I have not
been able to work since the car accident because of injuries to myself

Brandon is my boyfriend who just moved here with me all
the way from
Los Angeles California. Every since he got here everything has been
hard...Hard to find employment .. Hard for us to find a safe place to stay...
Just Hard! He won't quite show it but I know he wants to go back
home. Although he doesn't want to leave me behind since I will be donating a
kidney to my thirteen yr old sister within the next few months. It would
nothing short of a blessing or a miracle for him to get a car, since I
don't have a license.

I am writing to you for myself. I have experienced a
tremendous amount
of stress and anxiety in the last year as I have had one bad situation
after another. I had three jobs as of one year ago, which I lost all of
them due to the health problems I had and the resulting emotional
distress as I lost them. I was trying to provide for four children and went
from living in a decent neighborhood to government housing. I lost one
of my children in the process, then two more. I want to get a job and
get out of this housing which is hard to secure in this area without a
car as public transportation is very infrequent, very limited and
weekdays only. Please help. Your consideration in this matter would be very
much appreciated. I am hurting and want a job and my kids back.

I've been trying for the last few years to get a car, but
I can't seem
to be able to afford one. I get under four hundred dollars a month from
working as a housekeeper and that's the only available job right now. I
am still trying to find other/more jobs to help save money. I have
school fees I have to pay for as well, so it really drains my pockets.
Plus, I've got a phone bill, food, etc. I can barely survive as it is and I
ride my bicycle sixteen miles or so almost everyday to get to work. If
I had a car, I would be able to find better jobs, have transportation
to get to that job for sure, and not kill myself riding a bike. I would
be able to handle gas better than a huge car payment I know I can't
afford. Please Please help me... I'm begging...I really do need help.
Wooster,
Dear Cars for Christmas,
I am a single mother of one with one on the way. I walk my son back
and forth to school rain or shine then walk to work 6 days a week. I
would love nothing more than to go back to school to be a firefighter and
paramedic, but without the car I have no way to get to school or to the
firehouse. I want to be able to provide my children with a better life
than I had and I will never be able to do it serving at the local
parlor I work at. I really need your help and all three of us will be
grateful for your help or any you could recommend for us. Thank you for
your
time, God bless you.

Cincinnati,
My name is Latoya and all I want for christmas this year is to get the
gift of a minivan. I have 8 children ( Charles-13, Ke'era-8, Kyaha-7,
Kevin-5, Koiya-4, Jalyia-3, Jamein-2, Jacora-2months ) I just had my
baby two months ago and I will be going back to work soon, and with 8
children I still won't have enough money to afford a minivan. This gift
would make going to doctor appointments, back and fourth to the
babysitter, going to the grocery store, and back and fourth to school a dream
come true. My son Jamein was born with congenital heart disease and he
also has seizures going back and fourth to the doctor with him is very
very important. My son Charles a preteen likes to play and wants to play
sports, my daughter's, Ke'era, Kyaha, Koiya, and Jalyia want to join the
girl scouts and a dance group, and just going to a nice family outing
for fun. I love my children and I would like to be able to transport
them to doctor appointments, family outings and gatherings instead of
them always being stuck in the house. I hope that someone will find
it in there heart to help our family out this christmas.
Thank You!

go to the hospital every couple of weeks to get tested and I don't have
a car to go back and forth and I work part-time and makes sure my kids
get to school and daycare its very hard when you don't have
transportation to get back and forth I been doing it for about 3 years and I
can not take this no more, I came from a good family and home and I
just want my children to be able to do the same, to grow up in a safe
clean, comfortable atmosphere that they can call home and a good running

Roseville,
Julie is my daughter and the single mother of two small boys, ages 3 and 4. At this time she has no home, no job and no vehicle. She is capable of working and willing to do so, but has no means of transportation to get the boys to a sitter and get to a job. She is currently living with me, her mother, and I have no way to financially help her at this time. We live in the country and there are no public buses or other means of transportation that come this far out. Julie's smallest child has been sick since birth and was having severe seizures which kept her from holding down a job in the past. She is raising the two boys on her as their fathers have nothing to do with them. Her child has been seizure free now for some time and she really needs to get back to work and get a job to support her family, but has no money to buy a car to get themselves back on their feet. Her oldest boy will be starting school next year and our hope is that she has a home for them and a stable household by that time. If there is anyway you could help her, it would be deeply appreciated. We pray every day for a miracle to help us out of this delemna. God bless you and all organizations that help others in need. Thank you, Julie's mother, Cindy

Dunkirk,
Hello, I am currently in bad need of some good transportation. I have a car that is ready to die and cannot afford one. I live on a measly $599.00 per month from Social Security and I don’t know where else to turn for help. I am 35 Yrs young. I have Fibro-Myalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic Depression, PTSD, Anxiety Issues... and so on and Pray that my letter will touch your heart and you folks can and will help me get a vehicle soon. I live in a little Village I West Central Ohio Called Dunkirk. I heard about this Organization From Hours and Days of Searching through the pages on various search engines. Won't you please make my Dreams and Prayers come true and help me get a dependable vehicle ? I have sooo many Dr's appointments to get to each month , plus getting to the grocery and pharmacy, Laundromat and so on.
Please Let Me Know If Your Fine Organization Can Help Me Out Or If You Know Of One Who Can.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
Dayton,
Hello, My name is Jack and I am single African-American male who is partime worker and full-time graduate student. I am in need of an automobile because I do quite a bit of traveling around the city and sometimes out to get to places I have to go. I am constantly inconvienced by taking the bus everywhere I go and it gets very frustrating especially when I go to the grocery store and have to carry heavy bags back on the bus. Plus also when I have appointments to make they are often difficult to get to because they are always out in the suburbs where I sometimes have to take 3 buses to get to and the buses run on an hour and half schedule. I have tried to take out a loan to buy a used car however my credit got screwed up when I in college. I only work part time making 11.07 an hour with 24 hours a week which mean I am barley living. At this time I can't afford a car and need one badly. Whatever your organization can do to assist me I woudl greatly appreciate it. I am unsure if your organization or another but someone has to give me a free car because the God that I serve assured me that my first car would be given to me. Would it be something if you were chosen to sow a seed into one of his servants lives? I thank you kindly for your consideration... Jack
Columbus,
In 1999 I became very ill. I began missing a lot of work and
eventually I became totally disabled. I'm now retired/disabled from the state
of
Ohio. Because they base my income on the last three years of work, in
which I struggled and got very little money, my income is not enough to
make ends meet. In the process my bills became delinquent, I was
evicted from my home etc., Now I take care of my daughter which is MRDD, My
mother that has various illness, my sister also various illnesses and
myself. We cannot afford a new car. Our credit is so bad that we cant
purchase anything on credit. It's sad to think that you work and give it
all, but when you become sick, and can no longer work, you become labeled
as if your life is over and no one can help you. My family has
numerous doctors appointments and I struggle everyday to find ways of getting
them there. We desperately need a car. Can you please help us. Thank You
Jeanette
Willard, Oh
To whom
it may concern:
I don't know whether it is proper to nominate one's own self as a
candidate for your service, but the fact is, my family and I are in a bit of
a transportation dilemma.
I'm 53 years old, and have worked as a newspaper journalist for the
past 25 years. In July 2003, I lost my job at a local newspaper in
Willard, Ohio (population 6,000) and have been trying to find a position ever
since. Willard is located in rural north central Ohio, where the job
market is very limited to begin with and searching for a job of any kind
in the area, let alone one in a specialized field like journalism,
usually requires some kind of reliable transportation.
In December 2003, I walked out one morning and found that our family's
1991 Plymouth Voyager, which we bought used with several hundred
thousand miles on it, had given up the ghost --- the motor wouldn't start and
three of the tires had gone flat. Because our income was limited --- my
wife has multiple disabilities but was able to hold down a home-based
part-time job, which, combined with her Social Security check each month
and my unemployment check, helped us keep our utilities going and food
on the table. But there was no money available to make the kind of
repairs necessary for our van, which sits, flat-tired and forlorn, in front
of our house, just waiting to be towed away by the city someday for
being a non-functioning vehicle.
In January 2004, we were hit with a double-whammy: My unemployment
compensation ran out the same week that my wife's employer --- she was a
copy editor for an on-line company --- laid her off. We have qualified
for Food Stamps, but one of the requirements of the job is that I must
report to the county Job and Family Services agency in Norwalk (about 30
miles north of Willard) five days a week where I am attempting to use
their resources to find employment. Currently, I'm being transported by
the local county transit agency to the agency's job site. The county
transit agency is also available, by appointment, to help us with some
other transportation needs, such as grocery shopping, but there is a
charge for the service --- not a lot --- but when there's so little income
coming in, the cost seems more than it really is.
The local Salvation Army became aware of our situation and has offered
some assistance with some of our other needs, but after they had a
mechanic assess the condition of our van, their representative told us,
with regret, that considering the amount of work necessary to make our
vehicle working again, it just did not seem like a practical solution for
them to help us, financially. The local Salvation Army representative
told us that he would try to keep an eye out for organizations that
provide motor vehicles for people in our situation. I decided to do my own
search on the internet today and came across your site and thought I
could do no harm in trying.
As I said, my wife Joy has multiple disabilities, including severe
arthritis, mild heart disease, respiratory problems and diabetes, as well
as a number of side effects related to her surgery, in 2001, for uterine
cancer (a success story, thanks to the Cleveland Clinic). She is only
able to walk short distances before her legs and lungs give out on her,
so for all practical purposes she is confined to a wheelchair.
This past winter, there was one occasion in which she needed to be
transported to the local hospital emergency room because of a bronchial
infection. We had to call the local emergency medical service to transport
her because our car was not working. This resulted in an expensive bill
from the EMS --- something we didn't need and could have been avoided
if we had transportation.
We have a 21-year-old son living with us --- a bright kid who has
assumed most of the duties of family housekeeper and caregiver for his
mother in the past few years, which has resulted in him developing some
related job skills, but not much official work experience to put on his
resume. He would like to be working and contributing to the household
income, but like me, he is limited by the "lack of reliable transportation"
issue.
If our family had transportation, I believe our economic situation
could be turned around. There are jobs outside of our community that I
believe I am qualified for, and I think the same would be true for my son.
It would be possible for me to widen my job search to a larger
employment market, such as the Toledo, Cleveland, or Columbus, Ohio
metropolitan areas. If I were able to obtain a job in or near one of these
cities,
I believe there would be more opportunities for my son and my wife to
find work or get the training and/or education they need to make more of
their lives.
As you can probably ascertain from reading this, we have experienced a
devastating year of frustration over our financial situation. My wife
and I have been married for 22 years and have taken pride in the fact
that no matter how tight our finances got, we always were able to
function and keep our dignity. Pride and dignity are lost to us at present ---
being able to transport ourselves would be a big step toward finding
them again.
We're not looking for a new motor vehicle or a nice-looking motor
vehicle. We just need something reliable that isn't going to break down in
six months and has enough trunk space to hold a large manual wheelchair.
I hope you can help us. If you can't, I appreciate your taking time
read this. Good luck with your work; I know there are other people out
there who are worse off than us, but I hope we have a chance.
Sincerely yours,
Westerville, Ohio
After
being blessed in hundreds of ways - one takes things for granted
and doesn't realize that life can somehow take a turn in ways you
never imagined could happen to you.
Once before, out of work, I wouldn't and didn't need to accept
unemployment checks. After struggling for 5 years, got work agin that led
to
the best, highest paid career position ever - things couldn't go wrong,
right? Wrong!
After loosing the high income job at the beginning of last year (2003)
I believed that it wouldn't be long I'll get another like I always have
before. Wrong.
I saw it coming though. That preceding fall we sold our 4-bedroom
Tudor on an acre lot, dropped out of the Country Club, paid off most debts
and downsized to an apartment, which involved selling the furniture,
dinnerware, glassware - most everything. Applied for unemployment this
time 'cause we needed something to live on while I looked for work.
Still made payments on the car & insurance, Health Ins. (now on COBRA,
costing 10% more than the employer was paying) and obtained Life Ins. for
a reasonable cost. Not long after that, couldn't keep up the payments,
still no job, barely making the car lease payments and hard to keep up
the insurance and gas. Had to keep the internet service and phone line
to do all those job searches.
Had several agencies, on-line and offline, working too. Not even an
interview. Realizing that I would be eligible for early retirement to
collect Social Security I applied for that - it kicked in at the time the
unemployment ran out at the end of November, but for less. Applied for
food stamps and that really helped as well as our doctor began
providing free samples for most of the prescriptions.
The Medical ins. terminated. The apartment ins. as well and started
missing the utility and car payments. Oops! The phone was
disconnected.
The cable company disconnected. However, bad news struck.
My wife had lost her appetite and was no longer eating - lost 25lbs in
3 weeks. Now having trouble walking, but her mother's walker we have
was now put to use. Soon borrowed a wheelchair.
The church helped us and got the phone reconnected.
They also helped with many prescriptions and some bills.
Wife was now requiring 24/7 care, up several times every night needing
help to go to the bathroom - couldn't even turn over in bed by herself.
Soon I had to take her to ER (7 times in two weeks) - until I had to
call 911 to take her - she couldn't make it to the car in the wheelchair.
ER never did more than feed her on an IV to give her some potassium and
hydrate her. Still losing weight - not eating and all those tests
showed nothing wrong.
Our doctors couldn't do anything. After many x-rays, nuclear test,
blood tests, MRI's and exams of all sorts - nothing wrong with the liver,
kidneys, gall bladder, brain, etc. - tests for MS -- well -- long story
- nothing showed up abnormal.
Finally, he suggested a Neurologist. At the Cleveland Clinic (and they
submitted blood to The Mayo Clinic - negative) they performed tests on
the muscles and nerves and discovered the connections to the brain are
no longer there. And, that she has the results of a cancer or a smoker
(which she never had) but no symptoms or evidence of either.
Still no cause determined to know of any treatment. Continuing to care
for her made the job search impossible now. About the time she had to
be admitted to the hospital because she went berserk which resulted in
a 3 week 3 day stay the food stamps were discontinued because my Soc.
Sec. increase a couple percent. After the hospital stay which involved
MANY more tests and doctors of every imaginable kind - they
couldn't/wouldn't let her go home but had to place her in rehab at a nursing
home.
Where she is today. The Neurologist there finally determined/assumed
that my wife had been struck severely by a nasty virus "Like Polio" and
left, therefore, no signs of it currently.
When she left the hospital she weighed 85lbs. - down from her original
125lbs. Just skin and bones.
Well, I had to turn in the car before they repossessed it, auctioned it
off and I still owe the remaining balance as well as other debts which
have grown PLUS the medical bills that have been piling up! Almost
$42,000 now, even though we expect Medicaid to pay for her rehab.
Someone at church had loaned me a car (for a couple months) which
belongs to his son in the Air Force who's coming home shortly and will need
it again. If I now get a job, to hopefully enable me to pay for a car
and ins. the creditors will garnish the wages which won't allow me to
keep any of what I earn for a car.
A great incentive to not bother to work.
As for the positives, I applied for VA health benefits and am now going
to get free health care.
My wife is now walking with a walker without assistance and gaining
weight since they installed a tube in her stomach and she's getting her
appetite back.
I can't afford much more than the apartment and utilities and phone and
maybe not food but if I can get a car to use to visit my wife, go to
the VA and any other appointments, shopping, church and perhaps a job
(that would pay for gas and ins.?) it would be really helpful and a
blessing.

My mom
has a van that needs a transmission but we are to poor to fix
the problem, and she has nothing to take all 5 of us kids anywhere. So if
you could help us in any way it would be most appreciated.

To whom
it may concern,
My mother (Firma ######)needs a car, just as much as anyone else. If I
could I would buy her a car. I am in my thirties and suffered from
severe epilepsy most of my life, meaning I do not drive. My mother provides
my Transportation to my doctors across state. She also provides the
simple things like going to the grocery store, or appointments I must keep
for county and state assistance to me for medical reasons. My mother is
in no financial status to purchase a new car, and the one she drives now
will no travel across state. It has seen its days. By providing a car
for my mother, this would also benefit me. Also to make things even
better my brothers and my sister all live out of town or out of state. With
a new car my mother would be able to travel to see them. This woman has
done so much for other people and taken care of me in my health. If I
could I would gladly buy her a new car as a gift and to show her how much
she is appreciated as a mom. She works hard and endures much e
motional and financial burdens by taking care of me. She would
definitely deserve a gift of such magnitude.
Thank You

I FIRST
MET BRENDA WHEN I BECAME FRIENDS WITH HER NEWPHEW. SHE WAS
ALWAYS FRIENDLY TO ME AND TRIED TO HELP ME WHEN SHE COULD. BUT ABOUT A YEAR
AGO HER HUSBAND LEFT HER AND 4 KIDS AND REALLY DID THEM BAD BY MAKING
HER LOSE HER JOB, HER HOUSE AND FINALLY HER KIDS BECAUSE SHE COULDN T
FIND ANY PLACE FOR THEM TO LIVE CAUSE SHE WASNT WORKING. IT WOULD BE NICE
FOR HER TO GET A CAR SO SHE COULD FIND A JOB. SHE IS LIVING WITH OTHERS
AND REALLY IS CLOSE TO BEING HOMELESS. A CAR WOULD HELP HER GET A JOB
SO SHE COULD GET THE MONEY TO MOVE INTO A PLACE OF HER OWN AND SAVE TO
GET A PLANE TICKET TO SEE HER KIDS. THIS ALL HAPPENED RIGHT BEFORE
CHRISTMAS AND THAT WAS REALLY A BUMMER SINCE SHE HAS A CHRISTMAS BIRTHDAY
AND THIS YEARS WAS THE WORSE SHE EVER HAD, SHE SAID.
