She spends about 100 dollars a week in taxis coming and
going to
work.Which to me is too much for anybody to pay just to go to work to
support themselves.
It would give her the freedom she needs to get back and forth to
work and where ever else she has to go without having to depend on any one

I don't have a working vehicle at all. Without a car I have to seek transportation for everything. To go to the doctors, church, grocery shopping, and anything else. I have been unemployed 2 years this coming December 31st. I can't go look for work without transportation, not can I get a job with out a way their. Yanceyville is a small town and is very rural. The closest large urban area is Danville, Virginia or Hillsborough, Roxboro North Carolina. I have no way to get to any of these places. If I wasn't living in income based housing I would be on the Street. I can't even go to visit my mother in an assisted living facility due to no transportation. If you can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

####### has had a rough call this year. she is a single
female with no
children but still struggling. at the present time she has no car. last
year she wrote a check to get a car so that she could go back and forth
to work. she was unable to pay the check off so she was jailed for 7
days. the result of this was loosing her job, apartment. She is now
without a home but yet and still keeps her head up. she say that all she
need is a chance. because she is single and have no kids she finds it hard
to get any type of help. she has been turned away from so many
organizations that it really bothers her that a person trying to do the right
thing has to go through so much

Sandra (Sandy) is a single Mom. She has two teenage girls
15&16
years of age. A couple of months ago Sandy's long term (14
year) relationship came to a halt when her boyfriend became a crack and heroin
addict. He viciously attacked her with a crack pipe (down her throat) and
stole her car. He has multiple warrants our for his arrest. When
last
reported he had trashed the car. Without a car Sandy could not work and
because she became homeless the state took her girls. Now because the
state has the children, Sandy is not eligible for any type of help.
This is a catch 22. IN order to have a home she needs a job, and in order to
get the job she needs a car - as we live in an entirely rural area.
She has been living with me and I am trying to help her by providing
shelter and food. She is eager and capable of working and has had job
offers - but cannot get to the jobs and has no money to rent a place
closer to work in another town.
A car would provide Sandy the means to climb back up on her feet, have
a home and get her beloved girls back. The girls love their mom and
and desperately want to be reunited with her. Even before she might be
able to save enough for a rental, a car would at least allow her to
drive to visit the girls who are in homes over three hours away.
Please consider Sandy and re-unite this family.

Denise has helped so many individuals and families with
taking
care of their needs. I have witnessed her giving up her last to help many
that struggled. With her disability it amazes me and many others of the
strength and courage she has to do the things she do. However, having a
car was apart of this advantage that helped Denise to get around to
support herself, family and many others. Unfortunately, Denise has now been
without her own transportation for over a year now in which has caused
many struggles in her life. The place where she lives here in Hope
Mills, North Carolina requires transportation in order to get around.
Anything that can be done to make her life much easier what be appreciated
and forever grateful.

Anna is a single mom with 3 children. She has been
struggling to make
things better for her and her children (7,5 and 3 months). She
provides a good home for her children. There is public transportation in
Charlotte but it is very difficult to travel with 3 children and no other
support. She went back college for a while but the demands of being a
single mom made her have to drop out and work. Where she can work is
limited by transportation and the time it takes her to get from her home to
most places of employment. She is very active in the education of her
children also. A vehicle would enable her to get back an forth to her
children's school, go grocery shopping, make visits to doctor's offices
and to go back and forth to work. I often wish she lived closer to me,
her mother (I live near Memphis TN), so I could help her out but that
isn't the case. I do what I can from this far away. Receiving a car
would be a wonderful blessing in he life and the lives of her chil
dren. Thank you for considering Anna

My wife and I have a son who is autistic and we cannot
afford a
reliable car. We cannot obtain financing the usual way because we have bad
credit due to unpaid doctor bills for his treatment. We recently got him
on medicaid, but we are still behind in his treatment bills. We need a
safe reliable car to take him to school and treatments, and also to get
back and forth to work. The car we have now is 16 yrs old and not in
very good condition. Any type of help would be great.

I am hoping to find help for my mother who desperately needs a car. She is on disability and I am also. She has spent her little bit of savings she had to help me to get away from my abusive ex husband. She moved out of a beautiful apartment home to rent a small house for my son and me to share with her. I currently drive a old minivan with a bad transmission and she a wrecked, salvage car that has left her on the side of the road many times. But she will give us kids the clothes off her back before she will help herself, she has no ac and she has many physical problems also Ie: high blood pressure, in need of knee replacement etc.. Our whole family lives below poverty level but we try. My mom would go out into 100 degree weather in a car that may not make it with gallons of water and extra oil so that her kids and grandkids can get what they need. My mom has been through alot in her lifetime and if she was to have a decent car that she can depend on it would take alot of stress of her and all us kids that depend on her. Thank you for time reading this and I hope you can help her out. Sincerely, Vicki

This young lady has alot of up's and down to include her self-esteem, but now it seems hard times have really hit. Her son was diagnosis with HIV and was not expected to live two weeks ago, but through her faith and prayers God has restore his health. Jean does not have transportation to get back forth to visit her son, he is still in the hospital. She is constantly striving to travel by foot or bus, it is hard for her not to see her son, but with the will of God she is holding on. Please if you can find in your heart to help this young lady, it would be truly appreciate and know that you are helping someone who is in need. God Bless

Mrs. ####### was a young woman with three children who was
an everyday
working woman working in the healthcare field. Mrs. ###### had a
niece who was being raised in an abusive home and was getting ready to be
bounced from foster home to foster home so even though she could not
afford to take care of her, she took her in anyway. When she received
her niece Tamara she was ten years old and was wearing a size 3/4 due to
not being fed in her previous household. After having her niece for
two years she made due for her by selling one of her vans and pawning
some of her own jewelry to buy her the school clothes she needed. Recently
in Feb. she was in an accident and lost the other vehicle she had to
get her or the kids around. Not she cannot work as much and take her
kids to summer camp and other school related functions because she does
not have a car( she does not live on a busline). I am a mentor that
spends time with Tamara fifteen hours a week and I see how much in th
e last two years Tamara has changed. She is learning how to read now
and has even got up to her normal weight for her age. Please bless Mrs.

another soul out of the kindness of her heart.

This person is my mother.
My mother is the type of person that will help anyone she can, rather
she has the means to or not. She will go out of her way to help anyone.
She is kind hearted and really deserves something for herself. My
mother had a car a few years ago, but she sold it to help my grandmother pay
her bills. She was left with nothing. She bought a car for $300 and it
brakes down all the time. She has tried to make it last as long as she
could, but it just isn't working out.
She takes car of my 80 year old grandmother now and she has no
transportation to take her to and from her doctor visits, or any means to gain
employment. She has been in and out of the hospital and things just
keep going down hill. If she were to get a dependable car, she could find
the answers to so many of her problems. She would finally be able to
find employment and know that she has reliable transportation for the
job, she will be able to take care of my grandmother that way she wants
to, and she won't have to stress so much.
I believe if anyone deserves a car, it would have to be my mother. It
would change her life, and probably make her an even better person,
because she will know that all her love and devotion to others has paid
off.
Thank you.

hello, I am a single mother of four. Although I am working
it is very
hard and stressful trying to maintain a job, go grocery shopping and
take my kids to doctor appointments without reliable transportation,
especially in times the weather is at its worst. I see our lives being much
easier with a vehicle. Please consider my family and you will truly be
blessed because we are truly a family in need.

Gastonia,
This letter is a plea for help not only for myself but for
all the
women here at this shelter and all over the state of North Carolina that
seek help to become self-sufficient. We choose not to become victims of
circumstance as well as abuse. The transit system limited. Those of us
that have employment are not able to get to work, therefore limiting us.
There are various organizations that we have been referred to, their
resources are either limited or the waiting list or requirements are out
of reach for us. Some of us are in custody battles that require us to
have a job and a safe place to live before consideration is given to us
as a custodial parent. We are in need of someone to give us a chance to
make a difference our lives. so we will not return to the familiar but
destructive past. I myself have a job that requires me to have a car and
a phone both of which are out of my reach right now since I cannot get
to work to make the money to obtain these things. Others are in
need of transportation to get their children to and from school as well
as look for employment. Any help that you could offer us would be
greatly appreciated and welcomed you can reach us at (704)852-6000 The
address is 330 N. Marietta in care of The Shelter, sincerely Cheryl, April,

Anchor Baptist Church in Mt Holly is helping a Cambodian Church get
started in the Charlotte NC area. These people have escaped the killing
fields to come to America for a better life with their families. They are
in need of a Church Van to transport the people back and forth to
Church.
Any mention of Religion or Church is outlawed in Cambodia. This would
be such a wonderful and spiritual gift given to the Cambodian Church
while celebrating the birth of Jesus.
May God Bless You and Your Family

Roanoke Rapids,
Prittania is the single mother of 4 children and is expecting
another. The father of her children committed suicide, leaving her to care
for her children alone. He did not put enough into the social security
system, so the children did not qualify for any assistance. Prittania
works hard as a prep cook at a local restaurant and as a short order
cook for a local caterer. She really needs a vehicle because she has no
transportation and we do not have public transportation in our small
town. My mother and myself provide her with transportation most of the
time, but there are times that we cannot and she has things to do, like
go to the school for an event or take one of the kids to a doctor's
appointment. She misses many events at school and usually has to
reschedule appointments several times just because of transportation. With
the
new North Carolina law that all children 80 lbs and lighter must be in
a car seat, transportation is even more difficult, because all o
f her children are less than 80lbs. Can you imagine trying to fit 4
car seats in an average size car with two adults? I believe she
desperately needs and vehicle and that having a van or SUV would change her
life and allow her to be able to have the flexibility to go and take care
of her family and their needs. Even grocery shopping is a challenge.
I pray that you would consider her. I know God must have led me to this
website, because He knows her need. God bless and I look forward to
hearing from you. Should you need to contact me, you have my contact
information.
Waynesville,
This is my brother and his family. My brother has had a very hard
life, he took care of our parents his whole life, when our father was
terminally ill he was the only one there to take care of him. Even though he
was newly married and his wife was expecting there first child they
agreed to move in with our parents and take care of them. Unfortunately soon
after they moved in and before their daughter was born our father died
& our mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and went down fast. He and
his wife decided to sell the house they lived in with our parents due
to all the memories. So he excepted a job offer in Florida and he and his
family moved down there, and then when they got there the job was no
longer available and they have lost everything since then, there home, car
and still no job. They have 3 children and no way to get anywhere. If
there is any chance someone can help them they really do deserve a
break.

Leland,
I am writing this letter for my mother. Four years ago she took in
my
step-fathers six niece and nephews. She had to stop working and going
to school to raise these kids. About ten months ago I had an stroke
and an baby girl. I couldn't walk when I came home and my mother taught
me how to walk all over again. When I returned back to high school she
piled all the kids each morning in an small car that we usually make to
trips for anything we do as a family. I am asking for my mother to be
the person the good lord above send an van to. Its hard for my mother
getting us around but she do it with any complaints. My mother is an
super-woman she takes good care of her family never does anything for
herself. So if you can choose my family for an Van so we can travel
together. Thank You
My wife and I are expecting a little baby girl on the 18th of october,
and she desperatly needs a car. We had to sell hers because it was
falling apart,I don't want my child to have to ride in an unsafe vehicle.
We were all ready to buy her a safer car when I was injured at work and
lost my job, since that happened we had to live off of the money we got
from her car. I drive about 100 miles a week to and from my doctors in
a vehicle i was able to borrow from my grandmother, its a pickup and to
small for my wife, a carseat, and myself. I've had no luck with the
search for work because I'm temporarily disabled. I would really
appreciate the help but I'm afraid I might be too far away.

Linwood.
My husband has been a quadriplegic for 8 years due to a diving accident when he was 37 years old. He had been the sole provider to our 2 children and me at the time of the accident. After te accident, I got a job at our local Wal-Mart and went back to school to recieve a better education so that I could become the sole provider. I became a certified Health Care Technician and I have been working in a lab at our local hospital for over 5 years now. I also became a certified Phlebotomist during this period of working in the lab. Although I'm making money and he is recieving SSA, after 8 years we still have not been able to afford a handicap accessible van. Our money is spent on medical insurance, prescriptions, medical equipment, rent, utilities, food, misc., car insurance and a car payment that I'm making on a car that gets me back and forth to work. We just can't seem to save enough to get the kind of van he needs. When he has to go to appointments, we have to transfer him to the car and carry along his manuel chair. If he had a handicap accessible van he could go in his electric chair, saving stress on him and us. Plus he could go alot more places and see alot more things in his life with a handicap accessible van. Hope you can help. Thank You, Karen
