Slidell

John lost his car in Katrina. He is 21 and does not have enough money
to purchase another. Fema gave our family 12,000 with which to
rebuild our lives but that is gone with purchasing a vehicle and living
expenses. We are living in a gutted out home. John unable to cope with the
living conditions, moved in with some friends. He has no
transportation to be able to get work. If he would recieve a car, It would
definately change his life. He could work and go to school.

Belle Rose

I need a vehicle in order to keep my job to support my children, and go
to doctors appointment. I am a single mother going through a divorce,
and I am pregnant. My husband took everything we had. The money, the
truck, all of our belongings. I am struggling to make ends meet. I have a
great job, and a great boss that has been helping me more than I could
have imagined, but there is only so much and so long that he is willing
to do.
Without a car, my children might be taken away, my job will be lost,
and I will not be able to support my growing family.
With a car, I have hope in keeping my children with me, safe from any
threat, warm, fed, and happy.

Please help me.

Grenta,

My mother is in need for a car after hurricane Katrina my mother was on
her way to come and see me but her car caught on fire. My mother is a
very sweet person and she try to help as many people as she can she
really love kids. Having a car would help my mother out a lot because my
mother now live in the country and it is very far away from where I live
in New Orleans. My mother has four other kids and it is hard getting
around with that many kids so can you please help my mother get a car it
would mean a lot to my mom.

LaPlace

Hello,
My wife, Marvel and I are displaced victims of hurricane Katrina. We
lost everything in New Orleans due to the devastation of Katrina
including the car. Marvel really needs a car to travel from LaPlace to New
Orleans when she resumes her job in the very near future. LaPlace is about
an hour away outside New Orleans and LaPlace doesn't offer public
transit.

Having a car could change Marvel's life because she would have a sense
of security knowing that can and will arrive to work on time. A car
will enrich our lives by being able to visit and check on love ones whom
we haven't seen since the early onset of hurricane Katrina. Most of all,
having a car will give my wife, Marvel a sense of normalcy, as we still
are trying to recover and rebuild our lives.

Natchitoches,

My Aunt is a very loving and caring person and her and her husband need
a vehicle because he is the only one who works in the house and he has
to walk to work. They have to walk everywhere with their three year old
son. Even though its not their fault they cant afford a car, why should
their three year old son have to suffer. It could change their lives
because her husband would be able to get a better job and pay the bills
with ease and she could get a job too. So they wouldnt have to struggle
and maybe have some extra money left. Yes she is 41 years old; but she
has spent almost half her life taking care of her mother (who was very
sick). If she is chosen, this car will be her blessing that she has so
long deserved. She has gone through so much and I just want to see her
happy. And to think about it this car would actually turn their whole
world around.

Thanks

Lake Charles,

My mother have been through so many storms in the last four years,
divorce, sickness, family disputes.
Since the divorce to my daddy, no one understands the trials she have
been through, except my other two brothers and I. I have watched my
mother help and pray for so many people despite all of her setbacks. She
is a nursing student, but cannot finish obtaining her degree due to
lack of transportation. She misses her doctor's appointments due to lack
of transportation. On a daily basis she tries to keep a smile on her
face, despite the obstacles. I have a 15 year old brother who have been
mentally challenged and autistic since birth. Throughout all the
things my mother has been through, she still manages to keep us together and
keep us believing that God will make a way. Trials are here to make us
strong.
This is my story about my mother, Tara. A wonderful, God-fearing woman
who needs someone to care for her like she cares for me. Thank you

New Orleans,

First, of all, thank you for this opportunity! We are evacuees from
New Orleans, LA. We are currently living in a shelter in St.
Francisville, LA. I will gladly share my story of the great man in my life,
Antonio. We lost everything due to Hurricane Katrina. Before the storm, we
were supposed to be moving to a new home and getting married in
February. Since the storm, he has no complained once. He was a hard working
employee of Tulane University for 10 years and plans on returning back
ASAP. He has no vehicle. He had to walk to work in the rain and
sunshine. He never complained once, but his responsibility to his family
and taking care of his bills would not allow him. He despitely needs a
vehicle to move back to New Orleans to get back to work. He has never
own a car in his life!!! And for a man to have never owned that first
car is hard. Yet, he never once complained. This day in age you have
to have perfect credit to purchase a vehicle. We are not fortunate
at this time due to my student loans and trying to pay rent. Now, we
have to refurnish our home all over!! This car will greatly affect his
life by giving his a sense of accomplishment, peace of mind, and
self-determination to make it in this world. Antonio has had the
responsibility of working since he was 14, but never could afford purchasing his
car. Due to Hurricane Katrina, I can't make his dream come true of
owning a Tahoe or dodge ram, but YOU CAN! Thank you once again. Please
help this young, hard working adult become a man and support our family!

Eunice

I am writing this on behalf of my friend NeKetta ####### of Eunice,
Louisiana. Of all gifts she could use this Christmas, a car is at the top
of the list. She has been working to get a car for many months but has
experienced several major setbacks. NeKetta was a senior at Xavier
University of Louisiana majoring in Art with a minor in Psychology. When
she was not attending class, she worked a part time job to pay her bills
and save money for a car to replace the one that was slowly falling
apart. Like thousands of other people, Hurricane Katrina drastically
changed her life. Although she was able to make it out of New Orleans with
her life, she lost much of everything else she owned, including her
vehicle and art supplies. After this setback, NeKetta quickly enrolled in
another school, McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Not
long after she had begun to settle down there, Hurricane Rita forced
her and others to evacuate. As of now, she has been unable to come
back to the school although it has recently reopened. Two of the
dormitories remain closed for repairs brought on by hurricane damages.
Because she lived in one of the affected dorms, she needs to commute two
hours (round trip) each day in order to attend classes. Without
transportation, NeKetta is often unable to make the trip. I think that getting a
car for Christmas would improve her life in many ways. For someone who
has recently lost so much, regaining her mobility would greatly improve
her mood and ability to perform well in school. Also, she has taken on
many familial responsibilities since she is back in her home town.
Having her own transportation would help her assist her relatives more
efficiently. I know that I am financially unable to provide the one thing
she needs right now, so I am reaching out to an organization that can.

Shreveport,

My mother Evelyn ######## 61, years old was a resident of New Orleans,
Louisiana and has been all of her life.  Hurricane Katrina destroyed
her double home that she own and her 1986 Metro Geo vehicle that she was
trying to have repair before the storm. My mother became disabled in
August of this year and was diagnosed with Lupas and Sarcordotis. She and
my sister evacuated to the Shreveport area.  She is currently seeing
physicians at LSU for her chronic illness. While my sister whom she is
with is a single parent of a five year old is now having transportation
problems, my mother is in need of a transportation to get back and forth to
the hospital, rehabilitation clinic.  My mother also adopted a daughter
from birth who is now 19 years who was a freshman at Dillard
University. She is now temporarily attending LSU-S.  My sister is overburden with
trying to find employment and transporting her daughter to school, my
sister to college and mother to doctors.  Please consider my moth
er for transportation to help her in this time of need.

Clinton,

I really need your help. I am a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. I was
in New Orleans watching my house being submerged underneath 15 feet of
water and trapped for four days before being air lifted. Needless to
say I've lost everything! Well, almost everything, I'm still alive, the
people who were trapped with me(my parents and my daughter) are still
alive! My parents are disabled and I have a teenage daughter. My
parents are now living with relatives in another town while my daughter and
I am in another town. Where I am now living is nothing like being in
New Orleans where public transportation is avaliable. Here in East
Feliciana Parish a car is a necessity! I'm trying very hard to bring our
lives somewhat to normal, but it's hard. I need furniture and a job and
no way to look for one or have the ability to go to the grocery to buy
food or to check on my parents. I wish you could help me!

Metaire,

I am a divorcee and mother of two daughters. My credit has been
extremly bad since my divorce. I was fortunate enough to get a car about 2 and
a half years ago, but lost it to Hurricane Katrina. I live in New
Orleans, I drove my elderly parents car to higher ground and left my car. My
car took water to the top of the windows. I have tried to get someone
to take a chance on me and give me a loan, but no one was willing. I
have $3,000.00 that MetLife gave me for a down payment on a car - but no
one gave me a chance. I really need a car because my daughters are
living in Shreveport until the end of the school year and I have no
transportation to go and see them.  If you are able please help us. Thanks

would like a reliable car to travel from Metairie (suburb of New Orleans) to Shreveport at least twice a month. I lost my 2003 car to Hurricane Katrina and I have been unable to get someone to give me a loan.  If you are able to assist us, please help us.

My name is Terri  and I'm raising my two daughters alone.

Bridge City,

My name is Tracy ******, I am writing about my mother, she is a
wonderful mother. My Mother has put me and my brother through college working
two jobs. She saved her money and bought me my first car along with my
brother when he graduated from high school. My mother has never had her
own car. She has always had to take a cab to work, or catch a ride
with a friend. My mother is also a victim of hurricane Katrina, she
started saving her money to buy her a car before the devastation of the
hurricane. All the money that she started saving has gone towards fixing her
house up, so she can be able to live in a adequate environment. I would
be delighted if my mother was one of the lucky people to receive a
vehicle so she can get around her community, and continue to be a hard
worker that she is. I speak for my mother when I say this deed will be
greatly appreciated by her.

Morgan City,

I thinks that this young man needs transportation, he always helping
out people. He alway helps the elderly if they can't get to a store its
because they don't have transportation. He would walk miles to get to
his destatination. I think that he needs a car because he is a senior in
high school and all of his's friend have a car,but when they see him on
the road walking they want even stop to pick him up.

Terrytown,

I am married with 5 kids because of hurricane Katrina my family lost

back on our feet and have a way to get around and me a way to get to and
from work.

Kenner,

I would like to tell you my daughter's story.
My daughter started out as a young mother right out of high school.
She did graduate and had a dream of becoming a nurse.  Having a baby put
that dream on hold.  These past two years have been tough for my
daughter.

I had to watch her experience a terrible divorce with a person who does
not help her support her daughter.  She is truly doing it alone.  She
now attends college to out-live her dream of becoming a nurse.  She also
participates in all of my grand daughter's activities.  She works full
time and she helps her father and I.  She is truly a deserving person.
I cannot help her financially.  After the loss of her vehicle in
hurricane Katrina, my daughter needs help in finding a dependable vehicle.
Please help in any way you can.

Lake Charles,

My sister Susan and her small family have been through a lot this year.
Even though they had a rough rough beginning with their automobile
constantly breaking down, Little to no work, and an amazing 2 year old to
provide for; they still managed to volunteer and give 100 dollars a week
to help the Katrina victims. On September 23, 2005 the town that she
resides in (Lake Charles, Louisiana) was hit by Hurricane Rita. They're
town and homes were left in ruins. She's always giving and joking and
she stayed smiling through the whole dreadful event. I was amazed because
though she lost a lot of valuable items she saw the positive and didn't
get upset or sad. However, when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans she
cried and cried. She watched tragedy after tragedy and gave what she
could anonymously. She didn't tell anyone what she and her family was
doing. She smiles and befriends everyone she meets. Though she won't admit
it she deserves a car for Christmas. (All she ever asks is that she
has a tree and special decorations--This year I would like her to
have a little more.)
Thank you for your time
Sheila

Lafayette,

Hi: My name is Jennifer and I'm writing regarding my niece Charonda.
Charonda is a 21 year old young lady who graduate in the top of her
class.  Charonda have had it hard throughout of life.  When she was a baby
her mother left her and her sister at a young age, and never returned.
She had no support from her mother side of the family and haven't heard
from her mother in 17 years.  She don't know if her mother dead or
alive.  She have wrote Maury and different talk show host to help her
locate her mother. After graduation she attended University of Louisiana
Lafayette and got pregnant her first year, she owes the school $700.00 and
don't have the money to pay them so now she have to commute. She's
living with her aunt who have three children an struggling on her own.
She have no transportation to take her child to his doctor appointments,
and he suffer with asthma real bad.  Charonda would also like to return
to school, but don't have the transportation to get to and from
school,or transportation to bring her child to daycare when she
return to school.  I would really love to see Charonda graduate from college
and be able to provide for her and her baby without depending on the
government to take care of her.  She's smart, attended college(Upward
Bound) while she was still in high school.  No one in her family could
afford to help her purchase a car or help her get to school.  She can't
work, because she have no one to take care of her baby for her. I know the
state provide childcare, but she still don't have transportation to get
him to daycare, work or school.  If anyone could help Charonda, I would
truly appreciate it.  I just hate to see her life go down hill at such
a young age.

Thank You,
Jennifer

Prairieville, La

I'm writing on behalf on my daughter.  Her family has had there share
of bad luck  two years ago  their oldest was diagnosed with Leukemia ,
then ADD, then Sensori Nuero Damage which is permanent.  There four years
old son was diagnosed that same year with Bi- Polar disorder, ADHD, And
Chronic Bronchiole Asthma.  They also have a two year old daughter how
has begun to have trouble with Asthma recently . And last but not least
there's the little one he just turning one and a cute little thing.
Since the Diagnoses of Leukemia there world seems to just keep falling
apart they can't get ahead. Every vehicle they manage to get falls apart
right now they have two , but one isn't working these a brake leak that
they can't seem to solve plus a electrical short in the fuse panel.  So
her means of transportation for doctors, pharmacy pick ups, and just
going to the store  is gone.  She has to get up and get the kids up at
5:30 am to take me to work so she can have a way to go to doctor a
ppt.  The vehicle her husband drives is old and starting to have
problems of it's own but they have no means or credit to get any thing . So
I was wondering if you could help.
