Braidwood
I am writing on behalf of a young mother of 3. She is currently
expecting her fourth infant and will deliver during the month of April.
Following divorce proceedings earlier this year, she was forced to leave
her home with nothing more than the clothes on her back, leaving her 3
children behind.
She is currently staying with a "friend," who is also jobless. She has
no means of transportation other than a bicycle. This is totally
impractical now, because she is eight months pregnant, and because of the
bitter cold and snow.
She hopes to, eventually, be reunited with her children. She would
love to be able to visit them, (in another town), and to go to church, and
to take them with her on Sunday. She is unable to do any of this now.

LIVING IN THE SOUTH SUBURBSRIGHT OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO THERE IS LIMITED
ACCESS TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. JOE HAS BEEN FIRED FROM HIS LAST JOB
BECAUSE HIS ATTENDANCE WAS DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY OF TRANSPORTATION. HE
HAS TWO VERY YOUNG CHILDREN (INFANT BOY & TODDLER GIRL)DUE TO HIS LACK
OF EMPLOYMENT AND A RELIABLE WAY TO GET TO ANY JOB HIS FAMILY HAS
FALLEN VERY MUCH INTO POVERTY AND SOMETIMES STRUGGLE WITH GETTING THEIR
CHILDREN TO IMPORTANT APPOINTMENTS FOR FOOD, FINANCIAL, ASSISTANCE, CHILD
CARE, AND DOCTOR/DENTIST VISITS. SINCE THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEM AFTER
PROBLEM IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EXPLAIN THIS FAMILY'S HARDSHIP. IT WOULD BE A
GREAT HELP FOR THEM TO RECEIVE A CAR TO HELP THEM IN THEIR FIGHT TO GET
OUT OF POVERTY. JOE AND HIS FAMILY HAVE BEEN HOMELESS SINCE MAY 2006
RIGHT AROUND THE TIME THEIR YOUNGEST CHILD WAS BORN. THEY HAVE STARTED TO
GET OUT OF THIS BAD SITUATION BY OBTAINING HOUSING. WITH A CAR JOE
WOULD BE ABLE TO GET EMPLOYMENT AND PROVIDE FOR HIS FAMILY THE WAY A
MAN ASPIRES TO DO. IT IS VERY HEARTBREAKING TO SEE SUCH A THING HAPPEN
TO GOOD PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOTHING BUT LOVE OF LIFE AND HAPPINESS. sO,
ANYONE WHO FEEL THEY CAN HELP PLEASE DO. I AM SURE THIS FAMILY WOULD BE SO
GREATFUL.

Hi my name is Aisha and my daughter really needs your help. She
is a struggling single mother who is just making ends meet. She works
very hard for herself and her son. My grandson has a very suvere skin
condition and she is not able to get him back and forth to his
appointments. Also we live in a suburban area and public transportation is
very limited. If she had a car she could definitely get a better job.
My
daughter, (Aisha ) is a very good person and mother. She would
do anything to help anybody now she needs the help. Please help my
daughter get a car, she really needs one and can't afford it. Thank you so
much for your time.

My name is Linda and a car would not only help me but
change my mothers life very much. We both live together on disability.
We live in a rural aera and
we lost our car 8 years ago when it threw a rod. We have no public
transportation like a buss
line. My
mother is 76 and can not walk any more.I
take care of her alone and she has not left the house for 3 years except
to go to the doctors 3 times a year or the hospital. I can not help to
keep her not depressed
when I have been treated for the past 15 years for depression. The
public aid pays for the helping hand to take my mother to the doctors but
other then that it is the only time she leaves the house. I cant tell
you how many times we did with out our pills,
groceries and ect if the people I beg to take me to the store wont take
me,our whole life is being scared to face tomorrow. If we had a car we
could get groceries when we need to. We could also take care of other
things that the doctor wants us to do, like the sleep test she wanted me to
take to check for sleep apena but I have no way to go to the hospital
at night for the test then get home at 7am.The doctor wanted me to go
for counseling and other things but I cant get there. One of the best
things would be my
mother could get out sometimes, she is the only thing I have in the
world besides my dog. Thank You

oldest grandson up for school, but has no way to get him there. She is
living in a section 8 style apartment in Waukegan IL an hour away from me &

be most appreciated. THANK YOU for reading my letter.

My name is Vivian, mother of 3 small children that are in need of
transportation to take children to day care and elementary school and
after school program. I am now working after being un-employed for 3
years, but unfortunately unable to afford a car on $7.00 hour, a car would
really help out with grocery shopping, school transporting, doctor
appointments, and taking kids out on week-ends. The job that I now hold is
Case Manager of a transitional homeless facility, I provide social
services for those who are homeless and suffering from HIV/Aids, substance
abuse, domestic violence and mental illness. Everyday I tell women, men
and children that "I know starting over is hard but you can do it",
their not knowing that I live that message everyday. Being positive and
encouraging to others truly helps me to know that everything changes and
I must have Faith in God and my situation will change to. Thank-you for
the work that you do.
Sincerely,
Vivian

Barbara is a 67 year old woman who has raised six children alone. She
is a retired school teacher who works whenever she can as a substitute.
She need a car so that she can get from one school to another. Also her
mother is 87 years old and lives in a Nursing home in a suburb of
Illinois.. She loves her mother and would love to visit her more often.
A car would allow Barbara to work, see her mother and continue
volunteering her time to motivate young women. She is very generous with her
time. Wherever there is a need in her community of people she is there.
She is a single parent, grandmother and great grandmother. She spreads
herself very thin...making sure that she takes the neighborhood kids to
the joeffry ballet etc. She is in need now as she lost her job. A
car would allow her to work for her living..to go grocery shopping and to
continue touching the lives of young women.

Monia Camp is a 27 year old young lady with cystic fibrosis. The
doctors give her only a few months to live as her lungs are shot. She is
in
the hospital (St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois). She will be
coming home soon and does not have a car. Monia has never had a great
life and has never had much of anything. Her brother died at 7 years of
age of cystic fibrosis. A car would help her get to Dr. appts. and
just be nice for her to get out and around for what time she has left.
Otherwise she is cooped up in her bedroom. All it needs is to run. Thank
you for your consideration

I am writing this in reference to my mother she is 48 years old. She
has a very hard time these past couple of years. She is disabled and she
has no way to get around or get to doctors appointments but beside this
she has taken on the responsibility of raising to of my brothers
children of which he does not pay anything for and there mother has abandoned
them so my mother with the kind heart she has volunteered to take them
in and raise them. but with no vehicle its hard to get them on and off
the public transportation and like i said she has very limited funds
and I live in Tennessee so I cant help her from here but if she had a car
I would feel so much better for her and those two nieces of mine I don't
have the funds myself or I would get her one I figured god had sent
this site to me to help her so I thought I would take a chance here. Thank
you so much for your time.

Monica is a single parent raising 5 kids and one grandson all in the
same household. Her two oldest children have varied medical problems and
getting them to doctors visits is almost impossible, because the
specialists are anywhere from an hour to two hours away and half the time she
has to wait until friends can take her and that can be days. She lives
on $100.00 a week and she has section 8 housing. There are no malls or
stores near her that are close and friends don't want to drive her that
far. One time her son had to wait 6 hours after morning class was over
at the jr college before someone could pick him up. Where they live is
a very small town in IL close to Iowa and there is no public
transportation or even taxis. Alot of times the older kids have to walk to work
and with the cold weather approaching it gets even harder. My friend
Monica really needs the help and I have no where else to turn. Thank you
for reading Monica's story. Sincerely, Mary

Marseilles
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this. We are a family
of 7 living in the rural area or Marseilles, Illinois. The oldest child
is 7 and the youngest is 2 months. We are currently w/o a vehicle since
our old 1989 safari just died. IT was the basic car being held together
by duct tape. My husband is currently unemployed and can't find work
since we have no car. I don't make enough to get a loan, and my job is
only seasonal. After that we are back to square one. We are behind on all
our bills, rent etc.... We just can't seem to get anywhere. If anyone
can help us or give us some information on a way to get help in getting
a vehicle we would greatly appreciate you taking the time to help us. I
pray the lord will bless your giving spirit. Thank you.
Tinley Park
####### just moved in with my husband and myself. She has two girls ##### 9 and ##### 6. She is also pregnant with her third child. She will be losing her car soon. She has had to leave her husband. Her husband has a problem with drugs and alcohol. The van she is driving will be taken from her soon. She is currently unemployed it will be hard to find a job until after she has the baby, and even then life will be financially difficult. The car she is driving is already on an extension for the loan and there is no income coming in to pay for it, so she will be without a vehicle very soon. She has moved in for a safe, new start and I am praying she will see God providing for her and her children in an awesome way.
Chicago
Due to the fact that my mother has a breathing problem and has to carry
oxygen around with her, and a wheel chair for walking has become very
difficult for her. Since my dad passed away 2 years ago, I would like
to be able to spend more time with my mom and do "the little things"
that mean so much to her like shopping or just going to the park. Even
trying to walk a little distance with her can become difficult. There is
no way I could even attempt to carry a wheel chair on the bus if we
went to the mall. I myself have high blood pressure and can only push the
wheel chair so far. A car would truly help her and me for shopping,
doctor's appointments, family outing and visits. I am in the process of
trying to find employment, but with some many jobs being located in the
suburbs it has been difficult for me. So a car would not only help
with getting around for me and my mom, but could also help me find decent
employment for a better life.
Thank you for being there.
God Bless.

Well it pains me to ask anyone for any kind of help and it is even
worse on my husband. We have been married for almost 6 years now and have
had a very rough marriage. We got married August 17th 2000. November 30th
200 our house burnt and we lost everything we owned. If it had not been
for our oldest son we wouldnt have made it out ourselves. We then had a
little girl born October 26th 2001 with major medical problems. She is
still 5 years latter receiving care from many specialist for many
different problems. Since that time we have lost our business, our home and my
van. Dont get me wrong my husband works and works very hard, we just
have 3 children home still and 2 grandchildren that we will be helping to
raise very soon. My husband saved enough money in jan 06 to get me
another van almost like the one I got reposessed and as for our usual luck
we where driving it about a month ago and the engine blew. We so need a
van or larger vehicle to get our children back and forth to sc
hool and to there doctors appointment and so that hopefully when my
daughter goes to school I can get a job. I know this is not a story that
is like most but at any rate we need someones help and cant seem to
find any else were. Thank you so much for listening.
Westmont,
My name is Lisa and I am in desperate need of a car. I have two
children. My youngest is 10 months old. I have type II diabetes
along with
a few other medical problems such and severe arthritis in the hips.
I'm a single parent in desperate need of transportation. I have so much
trouble trying to make doctors appointments for myself as well as my
children. Grocery shopping is almost impossible. I cannot supplement
my
families nutrition using the local food pantry because I do not have
transportation. I cannot properly help my mom because she lives in the
city and I have a lot of trouble trying to help her take care of her
business making sure she has everything she needs. We cannot participate
in the various after school activities and township family nights
because we have no mode of transportation. People get tired of helping you
and I need to shop for groceries more that once every other month when
someone finds the time to take me. One the biggest troubles I have
to getting my prescriptions filled. I take approximately ten
medications a day so I have to get refills often. Because my diabetes
fluctuates, my medications changes often. Now I have a growth on my kidney
and
I need to see a kidney specialist on a regular basis, but I do not have
the transportation. I also need to see and endocronologist on a
regular basis, but I do not have transportation. Thank you and God Bless
You!
St Charles,
was living in a poor neighborhood in Aurora IL. I was living with a
close friend of mine trying to save money. My friend was murdered walking
home from another friends house at about 11:00p.m. on a Wednesday
evening, my engine blew on my car and I lost my job, it has been really
difficult for me to get back on my feet partially because I don't have
reliable transportation to obtain secure employment. My family moved away and
I am currently living in a homeless shelter in St. Charles Il. If their
is any way you can help me and if it God's will, I would be very
grateful. I am 21yrs. old and I will remain to keep my faith either way.
Thank you all so much for your time. Merry Christmas
Naperville,
My friend, Robin, has a B.A. in communications, 4 kids, little (or no) child support and difficulty working because her car is an old 1990 Maxima that she bought for $300 before summer. Then the brakes went out, so she left it at her ex husbands house for him to fix. He never did. Instead, neighborhood kids vandalized it, broke out the window, stole the radio and the brakes still don't work and now the tire is flat too. She took it to a safer place and parked it until she could get it fixed. Now it's been rained on (and in the windows) and in worse condition. It barely ran to begin with and she only used it for less than a couple of hundred miles. She can substitute teach at her kids schools, but can't get there. And, now her bills are so high, she will be homeless soon (again). She was homeless 2 years ago when she lost section 8. If she gets a new(er) car, she can work and hopefully headoff the disaster upon to hit her.
Paxton,
My name is Danielle and I need a car. I have two young children
with health problems and my husband works full time. I have a 2 year old
who has developmental problems and may be autsic and I have a 4 year
who is a severe asthmatic. We have been through two cars in the last
year. Right at this moment we are borrowing my step-father's truck. My
sister is giving us a car in the near future, but we have to give back the
truck. So that would leave us with only one car. I need a car so I can
take my children to their doctor appointments and be able to take them
places when my husband is at work. I right now depend on my mother to
take me to my childrens appointments and what not. My husband doesn't
make enough money for us to by another car we barely make ends meet with
his paycheck. We literally live paycheck to pay check and still not
make ends meet. And if I get a car I would be able to start work next
fall while the children start school. A car would really help us
on so many levels. Please consider halping us and giving us a car.
I
have been praying for an outlet nad help in the financial department.
God bless in have this donation to people in need. I know that we would
deeply appreciate the car and would be grateful. And I will keep
praying for this contribution and if I don't get the car hopefully some one
with more will obtain the car.
God Bless you
Thank you
Danielle

My name is Jennifer , I have a two year old little girl and a five

day. when i was fifteen i ran away from home and ended up pregnant. after

the reason i got off drugs and tried to fix our lives. last year i got
engaged to a man whom i thought to be a savior for us. he ended up
beating me and emotionally abusing all of us. i have prayed to god every
night that someone would come along and help us, but no one ever did. if i

East Alton,
Hello...My name is ****** ******* & I would like to remain
annoymous..Thats why I did'nt leave my phone #..I'm doing this for my friend
####### ##### for she is in desperate need. She has had a stream of bad luck
most of her life. You see back in Sept. 24 of 2002 she was in a bad car
accident which now leaves her on disability. She's a single mother of 2
small children and she is only 33 yrs old. She was in a recent car
accident again in May 31, of 2005 which in turn totaled her only
transportation that she had for her and her 2 children. You see Milani has
missed
all of her doctor visits and therapy sessions ever since. She is
currently suffering with fibromyalgia, chronic pain disorder, GAD-
generalized anxiety & PTSD- post traumatic stress. She is getting worse instead
of better. She needs to receive her treatments. She is also currently
going through a child custody thing cause her ex does not want her to
move herself and the children to Ohio where her only family and su
pport system is. So he wants the children to remain in the State of
Illinois. My friend ###### is the single most loving person that I know
and she would do anything for her family and friends. I feel its time
somebody do something for her. She is in the worst predicament ever. She
even has a donation site for help..She has tried everything imagined
for help and she's run out of road. If you would like to check out her
website to fully understand my friends delema Please feel free.
Carpentersville,
Hi, my name is Dawn *******. I'm submitting my own story. I grew up
in
the "ghetto" of Chicago's south side. My mother and I survived two
fires starting over from scratch. We live in my mother's car, shelters,
with friends, and family members. We eventually got on our feet. I
was
blessed to go to college, but didn't finish. I had too many loans and
got pregnant twice. So I quit to take care of my two girls. From there
I got married and I have two more children. Well, I left my husband and
moved to Arkansas with my grandmother. Now I live in Carpentersville,
Il in a subsidy community. Out here is wonderful, but to get around you
need a car. I found a job, but the car I had is undriveable and I don't
have the money to get it fix. Since then the car has been towed and no
money. I'm not trying to feel sorry for myself. I can get a job. This
is what I did, but my car went kapoop. If I was to be picked to receive
a car, this would be a blessing for me and my children. Thank y
ou for your time and please keep doing what you all are doing. God
Bless!
Cahokia,

Then after the care got fixed the back windows got broke and it rans in

now. Shandas care is now broke again she is not able to work because she

Chicago,
My name is Sarah and I am a breast cancer survivor since 1999. I just had a cancerous tumor removed from my collarbone area in about August of 2004 and my radiation treatment took place in October of this year because the tumor came right back. I have two children and I am currently struggling getting around on public transportation. I am often stressed and in a lot of pain and most of the time, the buses and the els take entirely too long to get to you when you are trying to travel this way. Some of the other problems are needing to go grocery shopping and other miscellaneous shopping and it is rough trying to drag all these things home on the bus. I have a condition called lymphadema and my right arm swells up extremely and becomes very painful when I try to lift too many bags. To make a long story short, I would greatly appreciate the gift of a car because going to treatments can be hectic and too much activity can aggravate my condition. I hope truly that I can r eceive a vehicle because I truly need the help. I hope that I can get this help because I am in desperate need.
Chicago,
This was a family of three until recently Mr. King's wife abandoned her
family leaving Mr. King to care for his daughter without no
transportation and childcare. He works full-time in Chicago and in real
jeopardy
of losing his job because of lack of transportation. Mr. King was on
public assistance and now has become self-sufficient and trying to do
the best he can to care for his family. If you can please help him with
means of transportation this would mean the world to him!
Bartlett,
Does any one still care about the military especially marines that have
already served! My husband served 22 years and his mind is messed up
from the war, I feel sorry for him but I have a 1 year old and a 4 year

moving around trying to stay close to the base for medical, and cheap
benefits that we can only afford on base. I'm trying very hard to save for a
minivan but its been hard, my husband cant come around us until he gets
his head together, base ordered and I'm single now trying to raise two
kids. When I look at the and cant get them a single van after their
father served the country for 22 years i want to cry! we lost there father
in the war and now we are walking!!! so much for America, but I will
keep hoping, my kids didn't ask for this if you can help we will kiss the
ground you walk on please contact me at 630-***-****

Evanston,
I was recently homeless for two years to be exact with two young girls, 6mos and 4 at the time. We were blessed after sleeping on cold back porches and a friend living room to find Connections for the Homeless. I have since found work that I was at over a year which moved in April 2004 to far out for me to get to with out transportation. By the grace of God was I able to find new work a little closer. We do have a home now through all my hard work and determination and it's a pleasure not have to worry about being on the street as long as I can work. The transition from one job to the other has left me trying to survive to pay my rent and trying to get a car. With two growing girls I can't do it all alone. I have searched the internet here at work looking for someone who could help me get a car, a donated car and I found this site through a million that just seem to spotlight the donator. I hope that my story inspires you to think about donating me a car. I don't plan to give up because we got back this far, I can't stop now! I suffered years from Depression and I won't let it win ever, it slowed me down and contributed a lot to my homelessness but I can't put my girls through that again ever, we are looking forward and never want to return backwards again. Thank you once again.
Palatine,
Dennis is my boyfriend and has had a rough life. Made some bad choices early on with hustling, dealing and whatever else to get by. His dad left the family when he was just a child. His mom passed away last year and she was his rock. He is trying now to get his life in order, get a job the honest way. Unfortunately, he needs a car to get to a job, yet he needs money to get a car. It is a vicious cirlce he is in. He is trying so hard to do things honestly and I'm just afraid that he will eventually resort to going back to the streets with the possiblity of something happening to him. He is 22 and has his whole life ahead of him and he has so much potential to make something of himself. The biggest thing keeping him from all of this is a car. I pray that your organization can help him in some way :-)

To whom
it may concern,
My name is Grace , the reason for this letter is because I've had
the unfortunate experience of losing my dodge truck due to unexpected
occurrences in my life. This past October my Durango was repossessed. In
June 2000, due to health issues I had to resign from my job. I was
eligible to receive unemployment benefits but once the benefits exhausted I
was unable to maintain my payments.
I'm writing this letter asking for any form of assistance from your
organization. I'm not just a person who is asking for a "free hand-out".
That truck was so instrumental not only in my life but also the lives of
others. The vehicle served as a church bus to take home those without
transportation and I was a designated driver for the church's personal
business matters. Additionally, it was used for field trips and other
activities for the children.
I know you may ask, Why can't the church buy or replace transportation
for me? Good question. At this particular time the ministry is not
financially able. However the actions or responsibilities that I've listed
were not something that I was asked to do. I gave my life to Christ a
month or two before I purchased that truck, and since that time my life
began to change drastically for the better and it was just in my heart
to not only give back to God but do what I could for the people that
were instrumental in my life.Finding your site was so encouraging to me.
I'm not just asking for a free hand-out, I'm asking for the opportunity
to continue to serve my leaders, children that depend on me, and just
people that i'm in posotion to help. I'm not even sure if I'm forwarding
this letter to the person who is empowered to help me, but I ask if I
have not reached that person that it is submitted to the correct
department. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forw
ard to speaking with you soon.
God Bless,
